MOTH A moth flew across my LCD screen, and now there is brown mark down the center of what used to be a beautiful picture. My screen cleaner did a wonderful job on every other mark but this one. Any suggestions on how to get it off? THANKS

I Have the same ugly mark that wanders down the middle of the screen.  The

mark is not on the surface of the screen.  Don't know if a moth caused it.  All
of a sudden it was there.  At first a small mark and now it continues to grow.
The mark starts center screen  at top and is quite severe.  As it proceeds
down the screen it broadens and is slightly less pronounced and veers to the
right and then back to the left, fading slightly as it progresses downward to
within an inch of the bottom of the screen.  It has reached the point of my
throwing the TV onto the trash heap.  Have tried to carefully clean the
screen on the outside.  This is obviously in the deeper workings of the screen.  My best guess is that it is a poor quality or damaged in shipment
screen with delayed results.   Have had the TV set for approximately 2 years.

I'm guessing you have a matt finish to your screen in which case it is semi flexible plastic. It's important not to use anything abrasive or acidic as it could leave an etched mark. The best think is to soak a tissue in a solution of bicarbonate of soda and warm water (about 1 teaspoon to 1/4 pint water), then with your TV switched off, tape the tissue over the stain and leave overnight. Gently rub the tissue over the area the next morning and the mark should have gone or at least be less noticeable. Hope that helps :o)

What is the difference between a bug and an error

The first physically documented computer bug was documented by Dr. Grace Murray Hopper when she was programming the Mark II Calculator (computer). When the system was not functioning correctly after troubleshooting the system, she found a moth between contacts of a relay. After removing the moth the system functioned and the moth was taped in her notes documenting the bug.
A computer error is displayed when a known problem in the computer code (program) expects a result from the hardware (electronic circuit) or software, and it does not fall within the code parameters. In most cases the error can return information about why the computer had a problem.
A bug is an unknown failure of the system which usually is intermittent and causes the system to crash or results in some type of failure. An error returns information about the system failure which is displayed or documented on the display or in log file.

Is it true that if you use moth balls with the fuel in my kerosene heater it burns cleaner & there wont be any build up on the wick? I get alot of soot build up on the wick of my kerosene heater &...

I can't answer about moth balls cleaning the wick but off the top of my head I would not try it as I do not know just what gases your unit would give off. I use kerosene heaters and find that after about 5 tanks of fuel I put on a pair of household rubber gloves, remove the chimney and turn the wick all the way up. Then I roll the wick between my fingers and get the hard carbon off. Once I have the wick clean I use the shop vac to vacuum it all up. I have found that by doing this my wick is never dirty, I do not get any smoke and the wicks last more than 20 years. Probably a better idea than moth balls. Let me know how you make out.

Unplug the set! Snap the trim ring off the front of the set and you may find a few screws or the front screen may just pop off. Then you can clean the screen and mirror. Be sure not to bump the color guns this will change the alignment of them. Be careful not to spill anything in the set. This is a relative easy fix.
