Whirlpool refrigerator no power

I disconnected my ice maker and removed it to remove stuck cubes and clean it. When I plugged it back in, the refrigerator wouldn't power up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

How can I remove the ice tray to ensure no cubes stuck, causing overflow?

Hello Michael;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

If you had a stuck cube your ice maker would not cycle.

You have a hole in your ice maker mold. This happens.

Now you can get a new mold for about $70.00, or you can go on line and get a new ice maker for about $40.00. Locally at a Sears store it will cost you about $110.00 for a new ice maker.

On the upper wall of your fresh food section is a label with your model number. Go into the following web site, plug in your model number, go into google with your model number and get your ice maker.

I will walk you through the installation. It is not that hard. Water Filters Lawn Garden Appliance Parts

My whirlpool GS6NBEXR refrigerator ice cube maker leaves slimey, flaky residue at the bottom of my glass. What can I do?

Diana, if I understand you ok, the ice you put in the glass leaves slimy residue. So that slimy stuff has to be in the ice cube. Well remove the the ice maker unit and thoroughly clean this ice holder and throw away the ice cubes in the kitchen sink and see if leaves slimy stuff. As for slimy stuff, while the unit is out, check any leaks etc. BTW any smell?

Icemaker stopped producing ice

Your ice maker can be rebuilt. I would disconnect it from the plug and remove it and carefully take it apart. Be careful not to loose the lever arm spring as you disassemble. Look at it once the screws ar removed under the front cover. It is rare to have a defective new water control valve. But once the ice maker is unplugged you will know because the ice maker is what tells the water to come on once the cube rake reaches home position. Sometimes the thermostat that tell the water on is stuck or the micro switch that tells the heater below the ice maker to remain on causing the same symptoms. So it will be most likely the ice maker and less likely the water control valve. The parts are priced so high it is cheaper to buy new than to buy parts. But I have fixed them without replacing parts. Sometimes the micro-switches just get stuck. What to rebuild it and me help you? Sea Breeze

My Kenmore sidebyside fridge, model 253.56522403 with a GSI-26 icemaker is stuck on cruched ice abd won't dispense cubes, only crushed.

Hello there:
I was in the chat with you but you did not answer so i will opost the solution here
would first remove the ice maker cover and check to see if the there was an "on/off" switch and a cube setting check to see if the switch is set wrong or the switch it'self may be faulty.

unplug the refrigerator and leave it unplugged for 1 hour and then plug it back in than see if the ivce maker now works
if not than i would try replacing the switch

I have a whirlpool fridge with the freezer on top. The ice maker is not making ice quickly. How can I fix this?

Good day,
As a general rule refrigerator ice makers don't really make ice cubes very fast.
Things that could increase the production are.
1. Set the freezer to a colder setting. That control is usually on a whirlpool is called an air control.
2. Setting the refrigerator control colder, while also help since setting it to a colder setting will actually make both compartments colder.
3. The ice maker produces ice when it's internal thermostat reaches approx. 14 degrees.
You have no control of that function.
4. If the cubes are on the small side, the water valve on the back bottom of the machine may need to be replaced.
5. Along that same line, the water supply line from the house and it's fittings could be starting to restrict, not supplying enough water pressure.
The line, unless plastic, and the valve would need either be removed and cleaned or replaced with new.

Frost inside the ice dispenser chute and the ice cube dispenser seems "stuck" on crush mode instead of dispensing full cubes.

The stuck on crush mode , is caused by ice frosted in front of the ice bin , blocking the ice bin flap from opening , when calling for cube ice . Removing the ice bin and cleaning or defrosting completely , will solve this problem , AFTER , resolving the frost in shoot problem .
Remove the top freezer door hinge cover , and disconnect the plug there . This removes any power , going to the door . If no plug there , remove the bottom kick plate , by removing the screw on each side in the front , and disconnect the receptical from the wires comming from the bottom of the freezer door .
Remove the dispensor control board , by prying , or pulling , from the bottom of the board . Disconnect the 3 plugs to the board . You should now see the white dispensor cover , being held on by 4 screws . Remove these screws , and slide the cover out .
In the top right , inside the dispensor area , you will see a solenoid with a plunger , with the door flap arc , inserted into the plunger . Usually rust inhibits the movement of the plunger , keeping the door flap from closing completely .
Remove the 3 screws holding the plunger and solenoid ( part number WR62X10055 ) and replace . Cleaning will not help , due to rust will return .

Cubes won't dump into the storage bin

In photo below you can see the heating element that comes on moments before the ice maker drops the ice. If not working then the icemaker will struggle to unload. You need to unplug the refrigerator and then unpluge the ice maker and remove it to test these parts. Test with a multi meter or ohm meter. Test the 2 connections next to the number #26. Hope this helps, Sea Breeze

Ice Maker is not working on my Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator

I removed six screws from the ice maker to pull it out of the refrigerator.  Their are four screws holding the ice maker in place and two screws on the ice maker door.  Had problems getting the electrical harness disconnected.  Used hot water to removed the ice cubes that were struck in the ice tray.  Poured all remaining water into a bucket and re-installed ice maker.  As of now, the ice maker is making ice !

I have a Whirlpool Model EC3JHAXRL00. The ice

Is the ice maker wire shutoff arm or switch (depending on
models) in the OFF position?
Is the water line shutoff valve to the refrigerator turned on?
Has the ice maker just been installed? Is the freezer
temperature cold enough to produce ice? Wait 24 hours
after ice maker hookup for ice production to begin. Allow
3 days after ice production begins to completely fill ice
Does the ice maker mold have water in it or has no ice
been produced? Make sure your refrigerator has been
connected to a water supply and the supply shutoff valve is
turned on.
Has a large amount of ice just been removed? Allow
24 hours for ice maker to produce more ice.
Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter
may be clogged or installed incorrectly.
Is an ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
For models with an interior ice bin, remove the ice from the
ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? Make sue your connections are secure.

Whirlpool ED25TE side by side--ice maker

Check for an ice cube stuck in the teeth of the ice maker that is preventing it to cycle. If this is not the case and it has ice cubes in it then try removing them by hand or you might have to defrost the freezer to free up the ice maker.
