Re: Maytag washer Model MAV6000

This is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine, parts are not that expensive, 50-80for bearing kit, here is my site on how to do it
there is also a download for the repair manual

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW Washer agitates and spins. Water sometimes empties. Pump is fine spins freely and the impeller is fine. Could it be the belt ?

You will need to check for an article of clothing stuck between the basket and tub that may be partially blocking the drain hole.

Have checked all recomended trouble shooting suggestions- there must be more?ot drain or spin, motor running, all lines have free flow of water, nothing between tubs and pump pulley moves freely. can

although the pump will turn by hand . when you use the motor power and the belt tenson;. it may be binding. ( this has been a common problem. ) ck for play in pump shaft and look for black under washer from belt fraying . my guess is the pump and also replace belt with the pump // hope this helps. **** and thanks for using fix ya ..

My maytag atlantis top load washer doesn't spin dry. The belt and bottom spin, not the tub.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you must have a defective transmission. you will need to call a service company

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck

Washer will not drain or spin out.

look underneath is the belt attached? if so then there is something in the hose from the tub to the pump.

Wet clothes after spin cycle

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Grinding Noise during spin and wash cycles but it' working ok

#1 issue have had with those as a repairman is the pump.the spot welds break and the pump rubs metal to metal also the belt can wear and can get somthing in the inner tub in those little holes[ie..nail]and when the tub moves it look at pump, belt motor pulley.tilt washer back .rest on wall and you can inspect all from there.God bless, tom

Tub dosent turn when spin cycle starts

Sure, tilt the machine back and examine the belt for wear, glazing and cracks, then pull the belt and see what doesn't turn.

Maytag atlantis washer

Start by checking the belt by tilting the machine back and examining for wear, glazing and cracks, next pull the belt to make sure everything turns. Post back if this looks fine.
