Question about Zyxel Prestige P-330W Wireless Router (P330W)

1 Answer

Connection problems After 5/10 minutes of excellent connection and performance my pc suddenly becomes offline and wants to connect to my previous dial up connection. I have corrected the settings so that dial up is not the default option and to 'never dial a connection', however it still wants to do it. I then no longer have any broadband connection and am continually offered to connect via dial up. The broadband connection then becomes totally random - one minute connected then not. I then can no longer get any connection and have to switch off the pc for a while before it becomes available again, then I go through the whole situation again. HELP!

I'm having a similar problem, except my computer isn't trying to connect to my dial up. It is however being very random in its connection. The connection jumps on and off all the time, which really disrupts any attempt to play online.

Try scanning your computer for viruses or malware. this is a common symptom when a computer is compromised by a virus or malware and the culprit has somehow configured your computer to connect via dial up.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

It is possible you still have a virus on your computer preventing Internet Explorer and Chrome. I recommend making sure your virus scanner is updated, and doing a complete scan of your hard drive.

In addition, it is possible that a virus on your computer has changed your proxy settings (which could explain why Firefox works while IE and Chrome do not). To verify that there are no proxy settings on Internet Explorer, open the application. Assuming you are using IE8 (other versions should be similar), go to Tools, and Internet Options. You can configure your proxy settings from the Connections tab, and clicking "Settings" for any applicable connections.

If you are using a direct connection to the internet (i.e., Cable or through a router), Never dial a connection should be selected. If this area is grayed out and there are no connections, this is not likely the problem.

Finally, make sure you are not working offline. Click tools once again, and make sure Work Offline does not have a check mark by it. This may be under the File menu on different versions of Internet Explorer.

check in outlook options>mail setup>dial up"Control how outlook connects to your dial-up accounts"
what you need to set is :
Always use an existing dial up connection
warn before switching
and DO NOT have checked the hang up when finished part

OR
go to ahm email accounts
change existing email accounts
choose your profile, and click change
then choose more settings
connection tab
There is also a setting: connect using my phone line etc etc etc
so you might wanna set LAN or whatever there too
cause there is a modem setting there too

if this all is already set this way i need some more information like what kind of connection do you have.

Inspiron 6400 wirless connection

HI
If the browser shows working offline and wireless is connected fine then it could be an issue where work offline is checked in the browser.
In internet explorer 6 its found on File in the menu, if work offline is already checked, check it again to remove the check mark and then try, if its internet explorer 7 its found on tools, the same steps and in firefox under file,
Also try this step as well, if its internet explorer go to tools-internet options-and in internet options-go to connections tab-there is dial up and networking box-remove the dial up connections from the box-and check the one never dial a connection

also check the firewalls and antivirus programs, post your results.

thank you

Assuming you have the latest updated spyware removal programmes and anti virus programmes and run a recent scan. It may be that you have some corrupt cookies etc. The first thing to do is clear temp files etc, the best programme for this is a free and spyware free programme called CCleaner which you can download from here and give it a software check and obsolete file cleanup. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
