Yes you can get simulated 5.1 surround sound from your TV as well as radio. Just switch the JVC surround mode to Pro Logic II movies or music In some systems it will display only PLII. Just connect the TV audio out to the JVC Aux input at the back ( red and white sockets ).
To listen to Tv program sound through your home theater system you will have to connect a pair of RCA to RCA cables (Red and White pair ) from the audio out socket of the TV ( some times three sockets Yellow/Red/White labeled Monitor out. Ignore the yellow as it is video out ) to the Aux or CBL/Sat input of the LG system. Then to listen to the sound through your LG HT system switch the Input selector of the LG to Aux or CBL/SAT. Will work for sure.
It could be that every sound has its recording style, some record the sound to just left or right only(mono left or mono right) some has stereo, recorded on left and right. Some have induced additional sound that only surround sound is best at.
Or some base on signal strength, some cut or boost only to the level it is set to appear.
THE BEST SOUND IS WHAT SOUNDS BEST TO YOU, HOWEVER DO THIS:
1, USING THE SETUP MIC CONFIGURE YOUR DENON, PAGE 8 OF THE MANUAL. NEXT
2. RAISE THE REAR SPKR LEVELS, PAGE 46,47. NEXT
3. WHEN LISTENING TO AUDIO CD OR RADIO TRY THE 5 CH STEREO DSP MODE.
4. WHEN WATCHING A DVD USE DSP DOLBY PROLOGIC OR TRY 5CH STEREO IF THE MOVIE IS MOSTLY TALKING.
5, TRY 5CH STEREO WHEN WATCHING PROGRAMS WITH MOSTLY TALKING

If you were watching movie on camera LCD and got No Sound, its possibility of built-in speaker is defective. Please check the sound by connecting camera to TV. If sound comes from TV, it means built-in samll speaker is defective and needs to be replaced.
