Question about Dryers

Dryer not heating up

I have a hotpoint VTD20 dryer which is tumbling but not heat is being produced. I have tried de-fluffing it as much as possible, but can't get past the filter to clean it out thoroughly. Is there a reset button on it or something? Where do I open it up from to get to the problem?

The first thing to do is check the power at the outlet just because it runs doesn't mean your getting 220 at the out let next take off the cord cover check there to see if you have 220 going into the drier if all that's ok then we will open up the drier at the cord check for 220 to hot to hot then check for 110 from L1 to neutral then for 110 from L2 to neutral and reply we will go from there

You need to clean all the fluff out of the dryer, the heat exchanger gets fluffed up, the fan gets fluffed up.I am assuming that the dryer is getting hot?

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Hotpoint vtd20 dryer aquarius - cuts out when overheats

You can get spare parts on line by going to,
www.hotpoint.co.uk
Re your other prob ,it is probably due to a fault with the heater, disconnect the heater and run the dryer .if it does not cut out then your heater needs replacing.
