Just bought 42" Aquos but has bad picture quality in Analog & Digital cable
Had a Proscan LCD and looked great! but kept shutting down so I traded for Aquos that was twice as expensive. The Aquos looks terrible, even with Blu Ray movie. Don't know how to adjust the picture or what??!!

Re: just bought 42" Aquos but has bad picture quality in...
There is no secret to adjusting the picture settings on this unit. My unit is perfect with Hi Def signal and better with Blu Ray. I assume you are using HDMI cables and have tried a new HDMI cable to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable. If you have done this then the unit has a problem and I would take it back or contact Sharp to get an auth. service center involved.

Lcd/Backlight! Main Problem On the led,lcd is the Bad lcd ribbon or Bord, Try turning off all the lights and Turning it on, then kneel down to the ground and see if u can see Channels changing when u click up/dwn or volume or even the Fuzzy look when theres no cable going to it. if u can see then its probably a bad board or chip.
On the far left and right inside the back on panel are inverter boards. Replace or look for capacitors buldged, swollen, or cracked on their tops. Replace defective caps with original value and make sure replacements are 105 degree for longevity. Common problem, let me know if this helped.
Get a HDMI lead it makes HD tv look how it is suppose to look HIGH DEFINITION. You'd think it naturally is suppose to look great but these people are rip offs you need that additional peice which should make it spot on for you. Try stores such as maplin & currys. Get the gold plated HDMI lead better quality
Since you're using "analog cable", I would adjust the television such that the picture is not streched. This means there will be black bars to the left/right of the 4:3 picture, but you should experience some improvement in picture quality because the TV is not trying to interpolate what to do with an already crappy analog cable signal.
You may also want to add a signal booster where the cable first enters your residence... often, folks split that analog signal up so much it is weak... and looks much like you describe.
If you have a thin line running down the screen, you may be looking at a service issue right off of the bat. Here is a few things I want you to try before calling sharp, 1. Reset the unit from the setup menu 2. Unplug the unit for 2 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work. Take digital pictures of the line and call sharp immediately. Make sure you tell the rep you want to sign up for the aquos advantage program that they have(extends your warranty 3 months free of charge!) because that will get you priority service on with your issue. If they cant resolve that line ,9 times out of 10 they will replace the unit. hope this helps you
Sharp 42" lcd. TV accessed incorrectly. Resulting in no picture.
Using TV remote, changed from analog 2 to input 4. Turned off TV remote. Returned to satallite remote, turned on TV, turned on satallite, still no picture. We seem to have power but no satallite signal. Ist time users of satallite TV.
