Question about Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

No vacuum suction during normal floor cleaning operation

Hose for attachments has suction but floor vacuum doesn't work.
When in the upright position, a lever closes a door in the suction line so that the hose can be disconnected and used with attachments. When the hose is re-attached and cleaner is moved from the upright position to the floor-operating position, the lever disengages and I believe a spring is suppose to return the door to an open position.

the spring load on this door is not working properly and the door remains closed. i can see a torsion spring wrapped around the lever but apparently it either doesn't work the way i'm imagining it or something changed with the spring.

Anyone ever see this before? (this is actually a U6632-900, upright, self-propelled, whirlwind).

Re: No vacuum suction during normal floor cleaning...

That door is called a valve door, and it may have broken, part #38718013. Or the valve arm, rear broke, part number 38719048. The spring part # is 38358001. Usually it is the valve arm that breaks. You would have to take the top cover off, then you can see the parts.

Dyson no suction in upholstery wand

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC18 is engineered to divert suction to the hose and wand automatically when it's standing in the upright position. If your DC18 doesn't seem to have suction from the wand when standing upright, you may have a blockage in the hose or wand. Please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to check for this:

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 horus for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue. However if you'd like any further guidance from our experts after you've given this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why when I Pull out handle to use edging attachment, suction stops?

Make sure that the vacuum cleaner is in the fully upright position as there is a slide 'gate' thet directs suction to either the vacuum head or to the handle section depending as to which section you wish to use. In the upright position, you shoud be able to hear the vacuum at the handle where the attachments connect. If you still have vacuum at floor level, check the action of this gate. The actuating mechanism may be broken. Cheers Bob

When the dyson is turned on the suction goes to the wand when you tip the beater down you do not have as much suction you cant pick up lint.

The Dyson system is designed to operate the hose with the handle in the upright position. When the head is tipped down (floor vacuum position) it closes the opening to the hose/wand

My wind tunnelhas no suction when using the beater brush. Something is stuck. Can I fix it?

If the hose has suction in the upright position, and the floor has no suction in the normal use position, check for obstruction in the dirt path from the agitator cavity, thru the short hose, into the lower handle.

I have excellent suction power through the vac, but when I try to use the hose there is no suction power there. I have cleaned everything and it is definitely clean and clear. I've also used the reset...

When you use the upright Dyson, the handle has to be in the upright position for the hose to work. In this position, there should be a clear way through for the suction to the hose, and the suction for the normal sweeper should be off. This is all very mechanical, not electronic, and if it does not work there is either a blockage in a bit you haven't found, or a broken plasic component which should be obvious if you take out all the bits in the pipe run that can be removed - there are quite a few of them!
Hope this helps

Only suction to attachments

Something is stuck in the throat of the floor head, between the brushes that turn, and where the hose connects at one side (usually right hand side) of the floor head.

Eureka Boss - no suction in upright postion

when mine does that I find that the hose is not connected properly where it comes off to use the attachments.
If there is suction there, it is a straight shot to the floor unless it is loose where it fits together.
