This code means there was a device failure due to the lack of an arbitrator. Open control panel, open System. Click on the Hardware button, click on Device Manager. You'll need to open each + & check for a Yellow ! point. The hard part is finding what device it belongs to. Once found right cilick on that device & uninstall. Re-start the notebook. Re-install the device drivers.

If your still at odds with this, post back & we'll take another rout.

Would really like to know more about what equipment do you see this error, because I have seen this on a very old system and what Operative System (OS) is used.

So does the CPU handles MMX extensions?!?

I could install application, but could not run it, or uninstall it without same error as you describe, the system I have seen this on is an odd Cyrix PR 166+ running Windows 98SE.

The FAQ on application I would use, tells me a Pentium Class CPU, but what I know is there is Pentium Class CPUs without MMX and the same application running on this machine, but has MMX.
The failed system does not have MMX extension.

I also notice on Windows 98SE in MSCONFIG -> click advanced there is (the last option) with Pentium F0-error (Lock CmpXchg) needs to be unchecked specially if you have other type of processors than Intel.

I had problem on my Pentium 200 MMX and same application first but after uncheck that it did work, could install, run and uninstall it without problems.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Error while unpacking program, code LP5,please report to author.

It seems to be caused by interference from other applications running on the computer such as AV products. It may also be possible that this Ceedo product you are using is the cause of the problems. Any extra info about how you are trying to run KeyboardTest could help us in troubleshooting the problem.

FACTS ABOUT CODE LP5:
  • Programs as "packed" to reduce space, stop hacking and help prevent pirating of the software.
  • Good packing software is hard to write. So packing is often done using external software protection applications. One of these packages is "Armadillo" from Silicon Realms. Now called Software passport.
  • Protected programs are "unpacked" each time you run them. Normally this is not problem and you never notice it happening. When things go wrong during this process you get the LP5 message like, "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author".
  • Only Silicon Realms really know what LP5 stands for. But it is enough to know that unpacking failed.
  • Sometimes, very rarely, you get a corrupted download that prevents correct unpacking of the software. The solution here is to get a new download package.
  • Also, very rarely, there is 3rd party software running on the same machine that interferes with the correct operation of the packed application. We saw this when CA's Antispyware had a bug that messed things up. The solution here is to identify the application causing the problem and uninstall it or get the bug fixed. Which is what we did for our software.
Please vote if this post helps you in anyway.

George

This can be caused by a computer virus that prevents a program from unpacking... you may need to have a better antivirus like kaspersky Internet Security 2009, norton antivirus 2009....

Remember not all antivirus can detect virus... some virus can destroy your pc... especially the hard disk...

this two antivirus is what i have tested to be good in protecting the computer from viruses...

hope it helped you... tnx...

Error while unpacking program, code LP5.

I have the same problem "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author"
Here is the Solution:
1. The number one solution is to disable or turn off your current anti virus for a while or every time you use that program showing "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author." ,
  • then restart your computer,
  • open the program again which previously having error "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."
  • Then after using the program, you can enable or turn on the anti virus.
  • Note: If you will enable the anti virus, the error message to that program will show again; in that case, if you want to use that program again, disable the anti virus again for a while then restart your PC
  • I hope this help you very much. Thank you!
