The LXI or Sears brand used philips TV's. These sets are known for bad coolant fluid. In between the picture tube and their lenses is a layer of clear coolant. Over time the coolant breaks down and causes the picture to become blurry. This can be a complicated repair involving removal of the picture tubes and lenses. Have a repair shop check it for you. Thanks for using fixya.
yes, I know what is wrong and there is a simple way for you to confirm this.
Have you ever seen a TV with just a white line across the screen from left to right? On a regular TV if this happens and you leave it on long enough it will burn the mark into the screen.
I suspect what you have is two of the picture tubes in this projection TV have a burn--it is caused because the set lost either horizontal or vertical sweep--picture either closed from left/right or top to bottom for a moment and then came back on instantly---burns a mark in one or more of the 3 tubes screens.
Way to confirm is simple--with the back cover removed cover each lens one at a time with the set turned on--be very careful when you do this not to touch anything else---
if you cover a lens and one of the marks goes away that tube is burnt----my guess is you are going to find at least 2 of the 3 tubes are burnt on the screen---
Problem here is the tube or tubes need to be replaced to correct this AND whatever caused this HAS TO BE FOUND ALSO OR IT WILL DO THE SAME THING TO THE NEW TUBES--
CONSIDERING the cost of two or more replacement tubes you are most likely better to buy a new TV---I have seen about 100 sets with just exactly what your are describing---It does not happen a lot--but once it happens the damage is permanent.
I know I am not giving you good news but I am sure from your description this is what has happened.
Sorry to give you bad news---see for yourself if you cover each lens one at a time--if you do this and the marks are gone you know exactly what has happened.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED MORE INFORMATION--let me know here--I am here to help but cannot always give good news.
You have a bad small signal board [ssb] It is about a 3''X5" video card. About 100 bucks to replace, then you will have to correct the geometry to fill the screen. I understand your frustrations as this TV has philips best color picture and sound. The bad news these are ageing quickly and costly to repair. You heard the news now you decide!!!!! I bet the tv was manufactured in 2001.
Bad news - There is no way of getting past the first password. Believe me I have tried.
Good news (kinda) you can reset the game by the instructions below, she will loose anything that is written in there already thou.
Put the game in the DS, turn it on, click on the game icon to start the
game then at the Ubisoft logo screen (just after the swirl), hold down
the left and right buttons (top outside corners of the DS) and at the
same time press the A, B, X and Y buttons, it's that simple. Just
remember though you will loose ALL saved data
while i dont have a true answer, I can tell you its a magnavox tv sold by sears produced back in 93. Ours just started doing this last week. I couldnt find any help online so we replaced it with a new led flat panel. WOW what a difference, the LXI was great for the past 17 years but the new tvs are better. We put the LXI in the garage because we couldnt throw it away. That tv was like a family member, if i figure out how to fix it i will post the how to.
I have an older model slimview lxi projection screen TV, Model number 62654628391, Serial Number 31056978. This projection was manufactured November 1993. This projection was given to me because they wanted. the Problem that I'm having with this projection is that the colors needs to be adjusted and the PIP needs to set . I lost the owner manuel to the slimview lxi. Please help me as soon as you can. can I get a tip on what to do. Tammy
First try cycling through all the channels. Or on the remote it should say something like input or something else like that. What does it say near the jack on the tv that you plugged the camera into. Maybe say video 1 or something. Keep me posted, Lee
