Adjusting convergence grid

Hello, Thanks to Premtech for the good advice. Greatly appreciated. It was suggested to use higher wattage amps. I did this and tv looks great. What im woderning now is if any idvice on adjustments to the convergence grid. I think i might have tweaked some settings before I replaced the amps. I look at the grid and it is not all stright and perpindicular. Mostly the linnes are all matched up and white. But the red is off a little on the very outsides. All colors are moveable. Im wondering if and how Im supposed to get the lines all stright and perpindicular after alighning the colors up? I dont want to mess anything up more by screwing with the grid to much. I dont know if that will burn anything up. The grid looks decent now but .. Looks wavy . Should I adjust or just line up the the red thats off a little bit. I dont know what a correct grid should look like. Thank you very much for your time .. this is a great site!!!!!!!

Re: adjusting convergence grid

I correct grid will look all white. all colors aligned up.
you should be able to move the lines with the remote. and you cant burn anything out by doing convergence.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site . They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.

I have the mitsubishi 55711,i have a double image

This is a V-21 Chassis common, with these symptoms, for failure of the convergence amps. This set uses two STK 392-110 Sanyo amps mounted on a heat sink and hard to miss. They're a 40 pin ic about the size of a half pack of cigarettes.
It has also been my experience that two or more of the yoke return resistors need to be replaced, most commonly R8c21 and R8c22, both are 3.9 ohm 1w but test all of them for reliability.
Hope this helps!

GUNS MISALIGNED. Green grid is skwed.

Both of you need to have the convergence output ampifiers replaced. Very common. A reputable repair shop charges between $200 and $350 to fix it in your home. Cost is dependent on where you live.

Convergence settings

Key Functions
7,8,9 = select R, G or B
+100,0,PRE-CH = mute R, G or B
INFO = test/normal
4 = shifts from point to line, grid move
2 = restore factory
SOURCE = H/V select
ADD/DEL = Save
S.MODE = exit
MUTE = cursor forward
P.MODE = cursor back
Volume +/- = moves convergence left or right
Channel +/- = moves convergence up or down
1 = zero's all convergence settings (ugly!)
U/D/L/R = move cursor
SELF FOCUS = saves the convergence adjustment - do before exiting

Good luck.  I let a sub-standard service joint work on mine - they replaced the OEM chips with a higher wattage equivalent, and I've had nothing but problems ever since.
