Re: Sony STR-DE310

I am currently working on one of these that exibits the same behavior as the first post. You can hear a little bit, but not much. Eventually the fuse blows. I opened it up and the MP1620 MOSFET (mounted on the big heatsink, closest to the back) is open and has a big burn mark on the heatsink. There is also a burnt resistor in front of Q720, which is most likely the 5V supply for the FETs. I am a firm non-believer of anything Sony. That 90 day warranty that they give with most equipment (especially game systems) shows how much they stand behind their junk. Just my opinion.

How do you connect sony str-de 698 fm receiver to television, cable box and cd player

Connect it's two audio plugs, likely to be coloured red and white, to corresponding sockets on any device that has them and select that input on the device. You should then hear your tuner.
Depending on FM signal strength where you live you may need an aerial, some is always better than none.

How do i connect an ipod to my sony str-de310 receiver

Connecting to a home stereo
  1. For most home stereo systems, connect iPod to your amplifier's sound input using a 3.5 mm mini stereo to RCA adapter cable.
  2. Adjust the volume on iPod to less than half to prevent overdriving your amplifier. Adjust the listening volume using your stereo's controls.

Note: Depending on your stereo, iPod may need to be set higher than half in order to get a proper volume through external speakers.

Sony Receiver STR-DE310 flashing "PROTECT'

Replacing ouput transistors and probably a couple of resistors is best left up to a repair shop. The entire main board needs to be removed to access the solder side of the board, many screws and several connectors.

No play back from HDTV to threater system

Do you have set-top-box or antenna-cable directly to TV?
You have connected TV with received via HDMI, but that won't work in this direction - TV has HDMI INput only, not output.
You can use HDMI to connect HDMI-out on DVD player for example to HDMI-in on receiver and HDMI-out of receiver to HDMI-in on TV.
But to get sound from TV to the receiver, use spdif optical or coax cable if TV supports that - this way you will get surround sound.
But also your connection via analog white/red RCA plugs should work, but only for stereo sound.

Rear speakers not working on STR-K740P

The only way your surround sound will work is if you have either the coaxial or fiber optic digital hookups attached to a PS3/Blueray/DVD/Cable box/Satellite box that have digital sound outputs. If you are just using the 1970's version of the red/white audio cables that is stero only.
