Windows 7 won't load drivers

Go to the Simpletech website and download the Win 7 drivers from there. Although there may not be any. If you can't find any try the Vista drivers, these sometimes work.

Hi, I have just rebooted my PC, and find myself missing the driver to my Verbatim Hardrive 320 GB. Is it possible to download a new driver, so I again can watch all my pictures I have saved? Hope you can...

No driver is needed, it's just a basic USB external memory. If you get a message about a driver then the pc no longer recognizes it correctly, which means that it has failed.
Your only hope of maybe recovering some data out of it is to dismantle the unit, extract the actual hard disk from within and connect it directly in a desktop - access it from My Computer.

I need driver software for my external hard drive. I have the 320GB Simple tech.

drivers should be on the drive! on desktop- click on my computer, click on drive letter (right click)- click on properties- or click on 'open' - if it shows driver files, double click and install drivers, or you may need to format it!
good luck!

My simpletech 500gb cant be open

I was going to tell you that you need to download a driver from the simpletech web site that allows it to run under Vista. But, I went to the simpletech web site for you and took a look. All of the products I could find (ie: simpleshare, thumb drive, desktop drive, network drive...) haveonly drivers for Windows 98 or WIndows Millineum! If you have one of these, they probably dont support it under Vista. It is usually the way companies get us out of older technologies and push us into their newer products. SOunds like a conspiract theory, but its the truth. Anyway, if you have a newer model I havce not run across on the site, may i havce the model number to check? Or you may do it, if you feel comfortable with doing such research. Here is the link:

Not recognized by Vista

You very likely need a new driver, if one is available. A search of the Simpletech site does not indicate there is one, as the drive is indicated as having been compatible with OS's through Windows XP. The driver download page is at - and as you will see there is no upgraded driver for this hard drive. I would suggest contacting them (there is a link on the same page) to see if one is available, or if there is another workaround.

SimpleTech PininFarina external hard drive - site to download drivers

the hard drive you have is plug n play.
if windows does not recognize it, you may have to uninstall the hard drive.
right click your computer. click properties.
click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on "Device Manager".
open the category of "Disk Drives".
If you see your drive with a yellow exclamation point or a red "X", continue. If it does not, either it was dropped or its a faulty drive.
Right click your drive and click "Unistall". Click OK.
Now, unplug the drive and plug it in again.
it will install by itself.
Go to my computer and check that its there. If its not, you may have a bad drive. either send it for a new one (if still in warranty) or replace it.
