On top of the screen, I have a capital E permanently listed...I think it has something to do with the Edge connection, but I have no idea how to switch it off, and I don't remember ever turning it on for that matter..please help, thanks:)

For samsung SGH-E250 the right setup is:

1: *#4777*8665#, go to GPRS settings
2: Highlight "GPRS Detach" then press select
Once after this setting, EDGE will off when the phone is idle.

How to activate singular

Hi 123nimin.

You may activate the Singular connection by following the below steps:

NOTE: A SIM card must be inserted to perform the unlocking procedure. The Sony provided Cingular SIM card, if activated, will still function after the Sony Ericsson EDGE Module is unlocked.

1) Click the Start button, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, then click Hyper Terminal.

2) In the Connection Description window, under Name, type EDGE.

3) Click the OK button.

4) In the Connect To window, next to Connect using, click the down arrow and click to select COM4.

NOTE: If COM4 (or the port that the Sony Ericsson EDGE Module uses) is not available in the list, ensure the Sony Ericsson EDGE Module is installed properly and turned on in the Smart Wi utility.

5) Click the OK button.

6) In the COM4 Properties window, ensure all the following settings are configured properly:

Bits per second = 2400
Data bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop bits = 1

7) Click the OK button.

8) In the Hyper Terminal window, type AT.

IMPORTANT: Use capital letters for all entries.

9) Press the ENTER key.

NOTE: Ensure OK is displayed on the next line after AT.

10) Type: AT+CLCK=PN,0,xxxxxxxx

NOTE: Replace xxxxxxxx with the unlocking key provided by the Sony representative.

11) Press the ENTER key.

IMPORTANT: If OK is displayed, the unlock was successful and the procedure completed.

a) If a +CME ERROR 3 error is displayed, reset the EDGE Module.
b) If a +CME ERROR 40 error is displayed, remove the SIM card provided by your third-party carrier and use the Cingular SIM provided with the notebook.
c) Consult the full list of +CME errors for more information on other errors that may occur.

Please perform the above steps to activate the Cingular Connection.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Your LCD panel (the screen you view) has electrical connections all along it's top edge. The lines appear when these electrical connections are broken. You can try carefully squeezing the top of edge were the lines are located. Sometimes this will cause them to momentarily disappear. Regardless, this defect is generally not repairable by any means other than panel replacement. Often the LCD panel will cost nearly as much as the TV. This defect can be caused by impact, but generally it is due to a poor electrical connection and not the fault of the owner.

There are rows of lines running through my screen. Why? Does this mean I need a new monitor?

it sounds like the screen is malfunctioning or you have a loose connection, if its not too old you make want to think about RMA'ing it, i think whats going on is simple, heat, it sounds like the lcd, which has these little controller chips on the screen data cable ( goes from the screen itself to the board that controls the unit, have came dissconnected or have came loose,if you want, and you dont mind losing the warranty, open it up, remove the screen from the harness while keeping the screen cables connected and lightly press on the top edge of the screen to see if that fixes the lines, then try adding something there to keep the pressure but make sure you put something on the screen edge to protect it from getting scratched, there is a sticker that says do not touch, just dont press hard on there, i have fixed many mointers and laptop screens using this trick, also try pressing on the sides because some screens also have them on the top and side, good luck and happy holidays

Mitsubishi 46in. LCD

The TCON board at the top of the panel is causing the issue. You will need to replace the whole panel.

When the set warms up, the TCON behaves. Replace the panel now to avoid what will eventually become a permanent line (if not several)

Buttonholing - Bernina 950 (semi-industrial)

This sewing machine looks exactly like the Berninas that I own, although my are not industrial. You just use the dial to make each side of the buttonhole, only having to set the stitch length to super small. The way you make buttonholes is this:

Think of the buttonhole as a square-ish capital O, with the center of the bottom of the O as the point where the button shank will lie when buttoned. Place the marked buttonhole area under the buttonhole foot, with this bottom point directly under the foot, squarely in the center of the 'hole'.
-Turn the dial to 1 and the long left edge will sew in zig zag stitches; stop the machine at the top of the O.
-Then turn the dial to 2 and the top edge of the O will sew; stop the machine after half a dozen stitches.
-Turn the dial to 3 and the right edge will sew; stop the machine at the bottom of the O.
-Turn the dial to 4 and the bottom edge of the O will sew; stop the machine after half a doze stitches.
-Turn the dial to 5 and run half a dozen stitches; this is a line of straight stitches that will 'tie off' the buttonhole.

Try this with a plain piece of fabric. Just put the fabric under the foot and dial away. You'll see how the stitches stitch.

I'll send a copy of instructions from my manual to you if you want. Email me at:

Garmin 305 impact injury

Will your warranty cover it? If not, I just described how I took mine apart because it wouldn't work. The bettery connects to the unit at the top of the unit where you plug it in. These thing are notorious for bad battery connections.
