My Dyson Animal turns the "flipper"(?) on that I would use on my carpet, but it turns stops turning right away. It then goes on and off every 5 seconds or so.

Hi, this happens when the PCB detects a blockage. Take the filter out and then try it. If it no longer goes for only 5 seconds then your filter needs washed. Wash the filter in your washing machine.
I need help repairing my Dyson. I cannot push the buttons down to select Short pile/Medium pile or bare floor. The buttons will not push down at all. It will not allow me to select anything. I have very short pile carpet so it does not pick up that well.
have a look at the brushes are they turning and if they are can you stop them turning if you tuch them with your hand??? if you can stop them turning the brush drive belt is slipping get a new belt and fit it,,
problem sorted!!!!
There is a part under the knob that adjusts from bare floor to carpet that goes bad on these vacuums. I have an animal that is about 3 or 4 years old and I had it repaired last year( to the tune of $115.00), and it broke again in December, so I just bought a new one, tired of paying high repair cost!!
The belt will stop itself from spinning if you accidentally picked up a shoestring or vacuumed the edged of a carpet and the carpet got caught. To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin, press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.
did you make sure that the dial is set to carpet if you have a dyson animal then the dial will be purple and on the right side or the vacuum make sure it is in the carpet posistion
If this is a Dyson with a protected belt that can't be replaced then it will have to be sent out to Dyson or get a Dyson servicepersonnel to check it over - protected belt motors are difficult to fix by yourself. If its clicking all the time, then it means the belt has to be replaced. In the mean time check that there are no obstructions on the beater bar and behind it and also check that the brush stop roller at the top of the hood is in the right position. It should move automatically when the handle is swung down in normal operation.
can any one help, Our Dyson Animal vacuum has plenty of suction when it is upright and
the attachments are being used off the hose, but when the handle is
tipped back to begin cleaning carpets the beater head is getting no
suction. As the handle is being tipped back you can hear what sounds
like a flapper valve in the body of the vacuum opening and then all the
suction just goes away.
