Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
please help me,i have windows vista Acer Aspire 3680 laptop and i want to burn music and picture files to my built in cd dvd writer.i used windows media player's burn function, but after burning to my cd-r disc, i just found out that the disc is still empty.I tried several cd dvd burner software but its all the same.At the end of the burning process, the disc is still empty.I looked at the device manager if my Hardware for recording are working properly like the Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA device(CD DVD rom drives) and the Hitachi HTS541680J9SA00 ATA device(Disk drive).what may be the cause of this problem. Is it because of the disk drive? by the way i can use the disk drive to watch movie and to install software but not to burn files to cd.Help me please...
Hi Folks, If you have Vista then go to microsoft.com and go into downloads and go to Media downloads and type in the search box "Windows DVD Maker "
Two programs will pop up and the one you will want is both the DVD Movie Maker with the DVD Maker and download it to your system but first go to your start button on the bottom left and see if it's already installed and if it is not then install it.
Now thru my findings of helping my sister out with her Laptop is that Laptops are not designed for home use due to lack of Ram and Hard Drive memory and in order for you to start making DVD's with pictures and music on them you will probally have to max out the ram & hardrive memory on your unit because I found that lack of memory is the main cause for problems such as music draging and not burning properly on the DVD .

Ok " I would get a dvd/cd cleaner disk, has a tiny brush on it that cleans the lens in your drive.

Try to reload the operating system using disk/Alt+F10 first and try to burn again.
If this is still not working. it probably your dvd rom is bad.

This is a common problem and is caused by build up on the disc laser light, you can buy a cleaning disk for it that will clean the lazor light try that first ten if it won't read or even before your option go to windows update and update to the new media player, some of the new updates has stopped dvd players from working. Give thanks to RIAA for this one. And if that don't fix it go to start control panel right click on optical devices and right click on the dvd RW and remove the driver restart it Will detect it again and should ask if you want to look for a new driver for it if it does not look for it or does not detect the device then you have a hardware problem, a bad cable or a bad DVD burner.
