Local area connection is meant for wired LAN connection. you can connect the internet using a straight clable wire.
on how to make a straight cable, below is the link

http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/ethernetcables.html

But as you have said you can connect using wireless, then in wireless adapter setting,

Assigned your IP address Plus Subnet Mask address.
Set your wireless access point IP address as your Default Gateway Address.

In Primary DNS address as provided by your Internet service provider.specify secondary address too,it available.

If DHCP server is available then you don't need to configure anything.

If you are trying to browse internet through a proxy server than Go to internet Explorer,Click "Tools", Select "Internet options ", Select Connection, Tick Proxy server and specify the IP address of your proxy server and the port.

you will be able to browse Internet now.

Can I use my wired Samsung NC 10 netbook wirelessly in places such as library, hotspots etc? I currently use a wired router at home and wondered if I can tap into local networks wirelessly and uses...

Hi

thank you for your query

As long as your laptp has wi fi functionality then you can use it in local hotspots, the only 2 things you will need to do are

1) Switch ti on (normally a switch on the front of the laptop)
2) Once switched on you will get a message on your screen advising wireless connections found, simply choose the one you want to connect and click ok

Samsung nc10 netbook will not connect wireless network

I know you posted this a long time ago (5 or 6 months), but just for future reference with other having this same problem or if you just gave up on connecting it wirelessly, here's the scoop. The Samsung NC10 netbook will not connect wirelessly and will sometimes tell you to make sure the the Wireless Switch is "On". However, there's no indication of where this magic switch is. I looked all over my keyboard, the casing, etc. I feel foolish now, but at the time I thought surely there existed an obvious switch. NOPE! The switch is located in "Change Network Settings" or something like that, sorry I don't have the computer right in front of me (I prefer my MacBook). In the window that opens, first thing you will see is your wireless network card listed and a button next to it that says "Configure". Click the "Configure" button and when the window changes you will be able to switch your wireless connection from "Wireless Off" to "Wireless On".

I have a samsung nc10. The wifi often will not

One general recommendation is that you should go to the Samsung site and check if there are updated drivers for your wireless hardware. Occasionally you may need a software update to resolve a wireless connection issue.

This issue may be due to several issues. First having two bars simply shows the radio signal strength and has nothing to do with your ability to connect to the Internet. It's possible that you are not getting connected due to a security mismatch. If there is security on the router you need to set up your laptop with the same security settings. At the library there may be a password required to connect. Another possible issue is the library may have something called a portal. This requires you to go to a special screen to accept an agreement before connecting to the Internet. This has nothing to do with your antivirus software.

Samsung NC10 will not connect to any network

If WLAN and Wireless cards are enabled, then you may have to unplug your router for 10 seconds to reset it. They tend to build up a static charge. Unplug wireless router for 10 seconds, plug back in and you should be fine in a minute or two with full connectivity

I am connected to the wireless network but cannot get an internet connection. When I launch IE it just keeps coming up with Internet explorer cannot display the webpage. I am currently in Sweden - does...

it doesnt make any difference in what coutry you are. if you say it works at home it should work in other places too.
check the ip configuration. if you have static ip&dns try to switch to automatically (dhcp). If dhcp is already set ask for network settings because maybe the access point you are trying to connect to doesn't provide dhcp or it has mac filtering.
