Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

don't know what you will pickup. Nearly all law enforcement, ems, fire have gone to digital trunked systems that are encoded. The above link has a link to the operating manual. You will need to know the frequency of whatever you are wanting to listen to.

  • Try these steps to program your scanner to make sure the frequencies are in proper and don't forget to add the decimal [.] point.

  1. 1. Press "MAN."
  2. 2. Press #1.
  3. 3. Press "MAN."
  4. 4. Now enter your frequency.
  5. 5. Now press "E" for Enter.
  6. 6. Now you have a frequency programmed. Repeat steps above to save more frequencies.

  • You could be having a problem with your antenna too. Might want to check the soldier joints, condition of or antenna replace it. The repeaters for N.O.A.A. transmit with more power and puts out a much stronger signal out of their repeaters than the local municipals will. So it is not uncommon to pick up weather and not some of the local frequencies. Especially if you are trying to pick up frequencies in a county rather than in a bigger city.

  • Let me know if you have any other question.
  • Hope this helps.

  • Programming your scanner depends on the type of set up your local PD, EMS, etc. are using. Some can get away with trunking, EDACS and some have a digital set up and some just want to scan around. What I'll do is toss you a manual, for free. Go here http://www.mediafire.com/?mkaz3ja40doumxq and click on "Click here to start download from MediaFire.." and the manual for the Radio Shack Pro-106 will download onto your computer in PDF form. If you need help on a specific set of frequencies just let me know.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

BC244CLT Base Scanner: can't hear local police calls only ambulance calls...

Chances are that your police communications have moved to a trunked radio system, while fire and EMS remain on a "standard" system for compatibility. For the latest information on active frequencies and systems in your area, visit www.RadioReference.com

I have a problem programming my uniden scanner

You didn't mention whether or not you have a manual for the scanner, so here's a link where you can download it:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC246Tom.pdf

Conventional frequency systems and trunking systems require different programming steps, and the manual will walk you through them in detail. You can program the scanner manually, using the keypad, or you can use the included cable with appropriate software to program using your computer. No-cost software is available on the Uniden web site, or you can purchase more useful software from BuTel. ScannerMaster.com is the best source for the BuTel software.

For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, visit

I cant get it to pick up the police what do i

First you need to know what type systems and what frequencies are in use in your area. If your local law enforcement agencies have switched to trunking systems, as many communities have, your scanner will not be able to receive/follow them. You should, however, still be able to pick up fire, EMS, etc. For system descriptions and active frequencies, visit RadioReference.com and/or CityFreq.com.

I need to program my realistic police scanner.

for your frequency, go to the local radio shack and ask them to look up the frequency. If you have nothing to fear from your local jurisdiction, go directly to them and ask for the frequency. Programming is the easy part and obtaining the frequency not difficult.
