- thanks for the answer..
we have updated BIOS version to 1401 and problem is still the same
Do you have this Bios version? P5LD2-VM BIOS version 1303 Support new CPU's. Please refer to Asus website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
Your board came out around June-2005 so improvements are here. I'm not saying its all about the CPU & FSB but it may help.

- Ok we are down to what type of drive is you primary. Is it an IDE or a serial ATA SATA? Your comparing your system to another & that other may very well have a faster drive than you. Your board does support the SATA I & SATAII hard drives. SATAII can run up to 3.0GB transfer rate but only when other componets fully support the drive. These other componets include updated chipset. Take my current Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe dual core Skt 939. Transfer of 711Mb took 12 seconds My four drives are SATA II's with updates to board chipset, audio, PCI devices.
I used a program called Driver Detective to get these devices updated. It was worth the $30.00 buying the program. Biggest reason was my SATA's did not transfer as fast as they should have. Asus does not list these updates. (They should)! So check your drive's and see just what type you have & what the Mfg says the transfer rate should be.
I hope this helps you.

Will not Boot Dell XPS600 Pentium D Processer 830 with Dual Core @ 3.0GGHz, 800FSB Vista Ultimate GeForce 8400 GS 512 MB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card Sound Card : SoundBlaster X-FI XtreamMusic Memory 3GB 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) I got a BSOD and powered it down, when it restarted my power button is solid amber and the Diag Lite is green on #2. I had remove and reseated the memory, graphic and sound card. With everything off when I plugged in my power cord the power button turned solid amber and #4 Diag lite is green. Reveiwing the diag lite table it does not show #4 on by its self so with that light on can you tell me what the problem might be ? Checked and all the fans are working OK. With the Power Switch in the off position and when I plugged in the power cord the power button goes solid amber and the #4 diag lite is green. Power off using the power button the fans turn off but #4 diag lite still stays on. Also I noticed that the power for the cd/dvd was not present in this condition....unable to open drives.

my computer is a dell inspiron 531. 2 1/2 years old. it developed shut down problems 2 months ago. at first it would run for 4-5 days then shut down. I have replaced 1. Power supply. 2. Hard drive. 3. Optical drive. 4.Rewired ac line to larger gauge wire. 5. new heat sink and fan for the processor. Problem still exists. Only thing left to replace is the motherboard or processor. Does anyone have any clue? Please email me to cqk7yg@yahoo.com. Thanks
