Problem Pioneer DVR-520H

Hi, It does not matter what kind of DVD or CD  I use, I  always get the message "No disc". Has someone else had this problem? Totte Hello, Yes, Mini Me, I have the same problem. Even though my Pioneer has recorded hundreds of discs, mostly sports and movies, I've had only 2 or 3 discs/recordings that were defective or unfixable. Then a couple of months ago it started...sometimes I'd put in a pre-recorded dvd such as the new colorized "It's a Wonderful Life", which my Pioneer wouldn't read and show. I tried other movies and personally recorded discs with similar frustrating results. Recording, too, is a problem. I'm trying to add one program to an already recorded disc and the "No Disc" message on the unit with the "Incompatible Disc or Can't read Disc" error messages popping up. Often an unrecorded disc is placed in and I have to try 3 or 4 times to have the machine read the disc. Sometimes I can then record to it but now must finalize the disc immediately on finishing recording or risk adding this disc to the growing pile of unfinalized discs that the machine won't read. My belief is that the laser is either wearing out or needing to be professionally cleaned for both of us. I understand and feel your frustrations. This was not an inexpensive unit. Any other opinions regarding my problems are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I have a DVR-520H (Pioneer) and can´t record programs from my DECO (Pace DC550D) with hight channels. A last channel available is 125. Could you help me? Regards

Tell the PIONEER to "rescan" the channels, and be sure to scan for "digital" channels, so see if channels above 125 can be detected.

Compatibility wth DVD and burning speed 4x instead of 8x

The write speed of your machine is 4x. It will only write at 4x no matter how fast your DVD blank is. When your write at a slower speed, you get a better quality DVD picture.

Something inside is loose, so it's time to buy a flat panel tv or spend $50 to get it repaired.

Hi, Had one that was playing just great, then the next thing ya know is that it won't recognize any dvd in it. Gave a "No Disc" message. So, I called Panasonic, (without thinking first) they say that it is under warranty and to ship it to a place in Pa, I am in NY. So, I ship it on Thursday, according to UPS they get it on Friday. I called on Monday, nope, they didn't get it, so I explain that UPS says that they have it. I next talk to shipping who put me on hold and go looking. He comes back and says yep, they have it, but it may be a week before they look at it. I give him my # again, and tell him to call me. Yep, he calls back later that morning, says that labor is only for 90 days. I told him that the rep said it was under warranty, yes he says, parts are 1 yr. $89.95 to fix it. I tell him to hold it. I remember buying it from and they have a 2 yr warranty with it. I called them, they approve it immediately approve it, and get this, the repair shop is a 10 minute drive. I then call back Panasonic on Tuesday a.m. They promise to ship it back. I call Wed, nope, they didn't get around to it. It is now Friday a.m., and no player. I am pissed at myself first, then the rep, then the shipping dept. WTF? So I say to you, if you do buy it, get it from 299 it is a steal. This way you get a 2 yr service warranty for no extra charge. Sam
