Reset Surge Protector

Overheated or something. everything shut down and the surge protector won't stop screeching, unless I unplug it (which is where it is now). How do I reset it, or is just broken? please e-mail me at [email protected]

Hi,

You can fix it by doing this. but first you need to make sure you leave your house for at least 4 hours so you don't have to be hearing that frigging noise, IT CAN BE DONE! i fixed it.
my unit would start beeping as soon as I plug it in wall, and red light come on, the software is telling me the battery is unplugged
this is what i did in order.
1. unplug all cords, connected to the unit, and power cord to the wall.
2. hold the power button
3. still holding the power button, Connect it to wall. (red light would be on but no beep)
4. I watched TV for 6 hours, red light still flashing
5. disconnect from wall
6 connect back to wall

I heard the unit click one time and green light came on, is charging now....

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

My DECT6.0 telephone will not give me a dial tone nor answer any calls neither will the additional handset..Although my verizon direct line functions as it designed

Hello.

Here are some tips, found online:

Reset the phone:

Unplug the battery in the handset, unplug the phone line from the base and unplug the electricity from the base. Leave everything unplugged for an hour or two instead of a couple to five minutes that way you can get more of an idea of whether your phone will work. After an hour or two plug in everything. If resetting the phone doesn't work then try the next step.

Check the surge protector:

Is the phone line plugged into a surge protector? The surge protector may have stopped working or blown a surge, a sudden burst of electricity, which may have caused the dial tone in your cordless phone to go. Unplug the phone line from the surge protector then plug it back in and see if you get a dial tone. It could be that the phone line plugged into the surge was loose or not plugged in securely.

Try a different phone plug, outlet.

Check the base:

Is the base dusty and have possible dirt in the prongs where the phone sits? Lift the base and blow off dust.

Check the handset for dirt.

Rub metal connections on handset and base:

Use a pen cap or coin and rub the metal connections on the bottom of the handset. Rub the prongs, metal connections on base.

Hope these suggestions help.

Hello. My Panasonic NN-K153W microwave owen keypad does not responding, beside three keys- stop, clock and the one with symbol of microwave in the left upper corner. I can not setup the clock because no...

Other than a complete power off, I know of no reset switch on any microwave ovens. I own a panasonic myself.

I would leave it unplugged for a while, at least 15 minutes or so, and leave the door open, to turn on the inside light (which won't light if unplugged but) so it might discharge any capacitors holding residual power to the circuit.

If it wasn't power protected, it could have taken a hit.

If it is plugged into a surge protector, they wear out. You might be able to make a claim on it through the surge protector manufacturer, if it has a warranty, and you have receipt. Surge protectors do wear out, and most unless they're the cheapest, will have a warranty that covers equipment. The wear out because the varistor which provides the voltage clamping during a surge become conditioned. Initially they clamp around 150V to 180V, but as they age from repeated surges, their clamping voltage rises until it no longer protects the equipment. Often you can tell, if the surge protector LED is blinking or intermittent, the company will replace the surge device if you make a claim on the protector, if it fails while in use, they usually cover the equipment, unless the warranty has run out, but many give lifetime warranties.

The reason some keys may have been working is because after a small surge, the logic states can go indeterminate, which means some work, and some won't. If it's not damaged, a full power off for some time may restore it to initial conditions.

Hope this helps. They should build in surge protection, and I think mind does have some; but, if not, I hope it's in warranty for you.

No dail tone --but phone line is connected

Hello.

If the dial tone is not heard check the volume. It may have accidentally been muted or turned down.

Is the phone line plugged into a surge protector? The surge protector may have stopped working or blown a surge, a sudden burst of electricity, which may have caused the dial tone in your cordless phone to go. Unplug the phone line from the surge protector then plug it back in and see if you get a dial tone? It could be that the phone line plugged into the surge was loose.

Try a different phone plug, outlet.

If the other phones on that line work OK, disconnect all the phones connected to the line, leave them all disconnected for 3 minutes, and then connect one at a time.

If still a problem and the other phones on that line work OK, give this a try:

Unplug the battery in the handset, unplug the phone line from the base and unplug the electricity from the base. Leave everything unplugged for an hour or two. That way you can get more of an idea of whether your phone will work. After an hour or two, plug in everything.

Hope this helps.

My daughters xps 200 won't start, she presses the button and nothing. She has checked the surge protector that it is pluged into and it is OK... is there a reset button is there was a power surge??

most surge protectors have some sort of on/off switch and a reset button. If there was a surge then you would need to pres the reset button to get the surge protector to function again. If there was no surge then try using the on/off switch on the surge protector to see if that helps. Also try simply unplugging the power cord from the back of the desktop while the computer is turned off. This will sometime also help.

Does my samsung tv keeping turning itself off because of not having plugged it into a surge protector or is it more a fault with my tv

It is a fault with your power supply module actually inside the tv...take it to a local service center or if its under warranty take it back. surge protectors help prevent issues like this occuring due to damage to the power supply from surges but not having one wont cause these problems unless it has recieved a surge.....in future i would use a surge protector on all your expensive appliances, surges and power fluctuations are very common in mains power i live near the mines and we have power problems all the time!! hope this helps, ben

When plugged, it shorts the surge protector and outlets.

I noticed that my refrigerator, kenmore freezer2_bing.gif, and stove were all not on. This has not ever been a problem before, so I unplugged the surge protector and reset the outlet. I then plugged the refrigerator2_bing.gif and the kenmore freezer to the surge protector and I noticed when I plugged the kenmore freezer it just shorted the surge protector. I then just plugged in the refrigerator and oven to the surge protector with no problems. I tried to plug kenmore freezer to other outlet and same result "a short
