I'm glad to provide the instructions to charge the player. It is not required to use a separate charger to charge the player. You can connect the walkman player to a Computer using the supplied cable to charge the battery of the player. Alternately, you can use an USB charger available from Sony to charge the battery.

I have provided a link where you can order for the replacement cable if you lost the supplied cable.
I have provided a link where you can purchase the USB charger for the player.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

Someone gave me a NWZ-E438F Digital Media Player, but all i have is the player. what type of charger/usb does it use & where can i purchase them?

Hi scotton25,
I don't know where you got the player, but you should have taken the USB cord along with it since these are unique and Sony stores are generally reluctant to sell them separately. Try searching at online stores like EBay or EForBuy and see if you can find one that suits you.

How do i update the firmware for the VP8870? Ive already downloaded the zip file. All my video files suddenly disappeared! Anyone know why?

While performing firmware update all data will be erased !
See the manual on page 36:
Vosonic VP8870 manual

The firmware update for the player is PMP.VP8870-1.0.0.B2.mtg :
Since you've downloaded the zip file, were you able to unpack it with
Winzip op Winrar ?
When using XP you can unpack by:
1. [Right click on the zip file] Open with > Compressed maps [left click on Compressed maps]
2. The next screen shows the opened zip file. On the left side the
folder task manager can be opened ( Folders / Maps in the top bar not selected): "Unzip all files" : follow up the Windows unzip wizard and
remember the location of the files.

How to do the firmware update is explained in the pdf file "How to update 1.0.0-B2 - VP8870 .pdf", added to the firmware update in the
zip file.
While performing firmware update all data will be erased !

I cant put videos on my mp3 player Well I go to Windows Media Player 10 and press the sync botton and drag my videos and i unplug it when it says its ok to unplug and check my videos and there not there

some mp3 players with video playback require that the videos be located in a certain location and/or be a specific type
check to see if the videos are being put in the right location under my computer
if they are not redirect windows media player to place them in the correct location or manually move them in my computer
if your player requires a specific type of video (ex phillips) check the company website for free conversion software under the specific player
also some players are tricky with how music and videos are stored
(ex some don't like music or videos stored in seperate folders)

Replacement battery?

After doing some homework, I discovered that this is a common camera battery. Do a web search for an NP-120 or a D-L17 battery. I just purchases two 2000mah (more powerful than the origionals) at from the Supermart storefront. Including the shipping, the two batteries came to less than $20 !!! We love our LYRA
