Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

Router rebooting? This is a weird one. The router is losing the ppoe connection (earthlink dsl) and apparently resetting itself at random intervals. Anybody? I have the latest firmware (4.03) The reason I think it is rebooting is that I lose the local area connection (says cable is unplugged), and then windows (XP SP2) goes through the whole process of acquiring a new ip address. I am not losing the connection at the dsl modem. This happens on either wireless or wired connections. I am stumped here. Could I have some kind of hardware failure? (I realize that it is an old model router .....)

Re: Router rebooting?

BTW router firmware 1.04 is stable, but 1.05 seems to cause restarting of the connection as well.

Re: Router rebooting?

Try the following...

  1. Is your Power adaptor is loosely connected to the power socket?
  2. Check is the power adaptor produces more heat?
  3. Try to connect the device to the UPS if not..
If these are not the issue then there is possiblity of device failure.

Zoom X7n Dsl 2/2 Modem/router/gw dsl light blinks constantly when trying to connect to Earthlink

Try removing the splitter, if it works then you might have a faulty splitter and you need to get it replaced. You might check if you are using the first phone jack in your house / apartment. I remember that was key when i was on DSL. Hope you get it sorted out, not having a working connection is very annoying.

Zoom X7n Dsl 2/2 Modem/router/gw DSL light will not stop blinking - trying to connect with Earthlink

Earthlink is not your local telephone company? You would need to contact your local service provider. If earthlink set up your DSL thru your local telephone company, you may have to have them contact them. Does your local phone to you or do you subscribe thru what they call a CLEC?

I cannot connect to the internet with my linksys wireless router hooked up through my dsl modem. I also lost the installation disk. What can I do to resolve my problems?

DSL uses a ppoe account. Your DSL provider should have given you a router/dsl modem to connect to the internet, and then you can use another router to feed the house a wireless connection. The ppoe user name and password should be set up on one of these devices. If you don't know what your user name and password is, (I forgot mine a long time ago), you can contact your provider and have your password reset. Once this is done, you will either have to connect via wire to the device that should have your user name and password, and set it. Default IP address to get into this router is, type that into your address bar on your browser.

default user name and password are both admin, all lower case for both.

Once you get into the device then you can go into the setting and look for connection settings.

Here is the PDF for this router. Start looking at page 5 to learn how to set up a ppoe user and password.

After successful instn of my linksys wireless router i cannot access to wireless online connection

Whenever you connect a different device to the cable/DSL modem the modem itself must be reset. Dont even waste a phone call to linksys. Its useless.

If you are using DSL depending on your ISP you may have to enter your account info into the router's PPoE section

Cable users should have the router set to "Obtain IP aadress automatically"

Use the reset button on the back of the router and start from scratch.
Unplug the cable/DSL modem power
Hook up your router WAN/Internet to the Cable/DSL modem Ethernet/LAN jack
Power on the Cable/DSL Modem first, wait about a minute, then power on the router.

Downloads locks up - Belkin N1 Wireless Router

I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:
Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.

Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.

Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Assuming you have set all your ISP's connection details correctly eg PPOE or PPOA, VC-MUX etc, double check you username and password, check your adsl filter and check there is no line noise on the phone line. It could be that the router needs reseting by way of a small reset hole at the rear of the router or it may well be that your ISP's server is down.
