Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Compact digital camera lens assembly jammed after dropping

Dropped a Casio Exilim EX-S500, and the lens assembly is now stuck open (extended) and slightly crooked (downward). Repair is more than the camera, and maybe unsuccessful. Should I just try to pry it back?

you did not indicate where you live so I am assuming you are in Canada.

Here is the support line for Casio. They should have all the replacement parts also, they should be able to let you know if there is a repair shop close to you.

Dropped my exlilim ex-s880 in the sand and can view pictures only

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Ex s500 - camera lens stuck in out position.

Sounds like you have a defective motherboard, because it wasn't dropped, it is not usually a lens issue. This is a camera repair place, they specialize on small cameras like casio exilims. I've had a Canon sd750 fixed with them for the exact same problem. The website is : camera repair nyc
