Camera not communicating with new computer

I've just installed EOS Utility on my new mac, once i've connected the camera the message is "Camera is busy and cannot communicate. Clear if camera's LCD monitor is displayed" The LCD monitor is not displayed and the camera is communicating fine with my old mac - can anyone tell me what is going on?

Yes, I was running 10.3.9 and now 10.5.1 - is there another version of EOS Utility I should be running with 10.5.01?

Thanks Cammedic, i've looked over all the updates on the canon site and found nothing for Leopard (10.5), in the details of one of the downloads it stated ' EOS Utility is not compatible with Intel-based Macs (Mac OS X 10.4.4 to 10.4.6).' - Intel macs have been around for a while now, I am surprised that Utility is not compatible. Is there any other reasonably priced software I could use to shoot tethered?

had the same problem and after downloading and reinstalling all software it still does not work. have found on the canon website the following explanation "OS X 10.5 is not supported by canon software. Updated versions are in development"
so guess we have to sit and wait

Eos utility for canon powershot s5 is Mac Lion

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

40D not communicating with EOS utility

open device manager, connect camera, it will be seen briefly with yellow triangle and exclamation mark. open it up and uninstall.
Disconnect camera and close windows down. Restart windows, connect camera and switch on, windows will then find it and install driver. Took me hours to figure this one out

Switched to MAC - have EOS40D and SX100 - will not download SX100

Yes, you need to install the SX100 driver software as well. I wouldn't overwrite older versions of the Canon software, though, so do a selective install if you can.

EOS Utility does not recoganize Canon Rebel Xti

I believe there are 2 modes of usb transfer that you can pick in the camera. They are set somewhere in the menu in the options. If you go through the menus thoroughly you'll find it. One option is for connecting the camera directly to a printer and the other is for computer transfer (there might also be an Auto setting but I don't remember for sure). Make sure that setting is set for computer transfer. If that doesn't fix your problem, re-install or update EOS Utility / ZoomBrowser.

EOS Utility does not Recoganize Camera

I am not sure about this matter but it seems there is a problem with your new computer. it might not recognize the usb cable.
try to plug your camera in another USB port and try again.
