You mean the strum bar, right? In order to test this, strum up and down in any menu in the game. If your selection moves up and down then it's working, if it doesn't move at all, then you have a broken guitar. You'll need to contact EA for an RMA. Information on that was included in the packaging of your game.
I'm guessing you have a wireless guitar and you need to sync it to your xbox by pressing the white button next to your memory card slots on the xbox and the one on the guitar it is probably around the body of the guitar
AS long as the drum set and guitar is made for rockband it should work fine. before you turn on your 360, connect the drumset (and guitar if it not wireless) If it's wireless, press the green x on guitar and wait for 360 to turn on. Then press the sync buttons on the guitar, drumset (if there) and on 360. Hope this works
there should be an (X) button on the guitar that looks just like the one on the controllers. The drums are connected via a USB cable which plugs in at the bottom of the console.
Dude your probably thinking about the Break away cord Or the cord that pulls out before the USB cord for your xbox 360, the guitar comes with 2 parts The guitar with a cord and the breakaway extender the Extender plugs into the front of the Xbox in a little Usb slot :)
You need to sync the guitar to his console, just like a regular controller.
There's a sync button on the console, and the controller. Press them both at the same time, and give it a minute. That'll pair the console up with the guitar, and it'll work after that.
there is a small button between the 2nd memory card slot and controller inputs(where u plug in controller). Press and hold that button. If that doesn't work there is eitgher a problem with guitar or a connection interference with it.
