it should then run through it's installation process.

HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing problems: The HP Print Diagnostic Utility. HP recommends that you download and install the Print Diagnostic Utility any time you need to troubleshoot a printing problem.

First open the Solution Center then click on Settings >> then click on Scan setting >>> then click on file type and select it as PDF and click on okay and then close the solutuion center and reopen and try to scan

What OS are you using? Did you try a new cable or switching ports? (If a USB device, are you attached via a hub? Try directly connecting to the computer.) Did you install the software before connecting the all-in-one to the computer or did you let the OS find the drivers? (If you use the default driver, you get a printer only with Windows.) Is your all-in-one supported by the OS? (I don't see any drivers for the C1600 itself on HP's site. If you recently updated to a new OS, those buttons may not work if the device is sufficiently old.) Can you scan using the software on the computer instead of the on-board buttons? If you have the device plugged into a print server (on a router, for example), you can also lose the scan functions if you lose the bi-directional information transfer.

The HP All in Ones require that you install and run the suite of software to set up computer scanning On my all in one, the message says, you must install the drivers to do this. The suite of software is on the CD. It is also available through HP.com
Make sure you download the full software suite from their website or your CD.

ensure the printer was correctly enstalled, check all connections ensure a tight fit. if it is connected to a network make sure the network cable is plugged in and blinking green

I called HP for troubleshooting assistance. My printer HP All- in-One is only 2 years old. They were very nice to run through a series of steps with me...only to tell me that "It is broken" and I will need to buy a new one. So that's my solution for today....Which leads me to the next question...Do I get another HP or something else??

Go out to hp.com support and check under updates and downloads, you should find the updated software and drivers you need. I just went through this with my photosmart 8750,.

Are you having this problem when you are using the buttons on the front of the printer? Have you tried directly clicking on the HP Solution Center icon on your desktop, and scanning from within that program?

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.

PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.

Please let me know if the issue is still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you another possible solution.
