You would have to go with-in 50 meters of the Security Location you set up your unit....that could be your home or office.... you had to call Garmin to Register the unit, when you did it set that location as a security spot.
Once there it will automatically unlock for you, dont forget to enter new pin number before you leave that area.... if you dont know where it was at, you must send the unit back to Garmin with proper receipts.
Dont set your security location as your home, thiefs will know and change it so they could now have a working gps
Wedll if this is not a stolen GPS Then the matter is simple. Take it back to the exact coordinates that you set the pin in. Then you will be able to access the pin setup and reset it to a new password. Your only other choice is to send it to Garmin, but if it has been listed as stolen, then expect the cops! No one forgets their pin or fails to remember the instructions for setting and recovering their pin.

Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or
password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to
bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “
1:Enter your four-digit personal identification number that you
used to lock your Garmin GPS. When your Garmin GPS is locked, you need
to enter the four-digit PIN every time you turn the device on.
2:Drive to the security location that you set when you locked
your Garmin GPS. Turn your Garmin GPS on and pull the GPS antenna up so
that your GPS is able to acquire the satellite. Once your GPS recognizes
that you are at your security location, it will unlock itself.
3:Contact Garmin if you forgot your PIN and security location.
You will need to send your GPS to Garmin to have it unlocked. You will
also need to send a valid product registration or proof of purchase for
Garmin to unlock your GPS. Call Garmin at (800) 800-1020 and get the
shipping address and specific instructions from an authorized Garmin

So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.
The only options you have when it comes to a locked unit is to enter the correct PIN, go to the location where the PIN was set, or send the unit back to Garmin. There is no way to unlock a PIN locked unit without the correct PIN or location.
