Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

Unable to read original card

I have Ped Basic and Embroidery Magic 2. I created a new design, used Wilcom to convert the .ppl to .pes. When I put the data card into my brother, I get the statement "this card cannot be used on this machine". It worked until I put the new design on it. Is there a way to reformat the card? I am a newbie and I fear I messed the card up. Thank you for any assistance you could offer.

Baby Lock PR600 Next color of stitching does not start in the right place

Is this happening only when you stitch a particular design/pattern? If so, the issue could be an error originating in the design. Sometimes designs are digitized on commercial software with commands intended for industry machines and when the design gets converted to a home format like PES via various conversion programs, the command gets misunderstood. Try reconverting the design again, or contact the digitizer of the design and request they review the design for any errors and create a new PES file for you. Note, there are 10 versions of PES at this time and your machine should be able to read PES version 4 without issues.

How do I get pes files open8 using windows 8

In order to 'see' the .pes files you have to have some software to read it like embird or embrillance. Embird is $164 but has some neat features such as being able to change colors and convert from one type embroidery files to another. You can just transfer them to the USB drive by: Plug in your drive, copying them, eject the usb drive, and then plug it into the machine. The machine will read it without you having a program that can read machine formats.

I am not sure the program has downloaded on Windows 7. The embroidery designs will not move there--

Sometimes embroidery files download in ZIP format.Check your download folder, and double click on the downloaded file. windows shoukd extract it into a folder of its own. open that folder and the .pes files should be in it. Then open the Brother program to access that folder with the .pes files.

When downloading a design on my computer what format do I use

That depends on your machine and/or what software you have. Brother embroidery machines use PED. If you have editing software other than Brother, like Sew What Pro, can use most formats and convert to the appropriate one for your machine.

Have a se270d and just purchased ped basic. Put designs on card and put card in machine, but it won"t read the card at all. No error message or anything, but it does recognize there is a card present....

Check the design size and format.

The 270 is limited to a 4 x 4 hoop and the design must fit inside this measurement without the foot hitting the hoop.

The format must be pes

Blank Card, PE Design says it's a ''read only''

Hi - I think the problem is that although the Magic Card is compatible with your machine, it is not recognized by with the PED writer. I have the Brother PED-Basic sfotware and a Brother PED-Basic USB card writer box. The only blank card that the my Brother reader can read is the blank cards made by Brother. Which embroidery machine do you have (not critical - I'm just curious).

If you have both a Magic card and Magic Box, the box should have it's own software. I don't think the PE Design software recognizes non-brother equipment (bummer). The link I've provided below is to a dealer that sells two different blank Brother Cards. One of the cards is 1 mb. The other is 4 mb. They are the same price. You might check your documentation to see whether both cards are compatible with your reader and software. If you're not sure, you can call the dealer directly and ask. I have dealt with this dealer many times and find that they have great prices and are very knowledgeable. This link should take you to the page on which the blank Brother Cards are displayed - scroll down if you don't see them right away.,20

This dealer is located on the East Coast, so you probably won't be able to reach them by phone until tomorrow. I don't know of a dealer on the West Coast to whom I can refer you. One more thought - Babylock equipment is often interchangeable with Brother equipment. If you have a Babylock dealer in your area, you might be able to find a blank Babylock card that you can buy off the shelf. Just make sure you can return it just in case it won't work.

Let me know if I understand your situation correctly - if not, send me another comment and I'll be happy to research further. BTW - if it turns out that you can't use the Magic card and can't return it, you can probably sell it online.

Thanks for getting back - I really love doing this. If you have general questions about embroidery, feel free to ask. I own several consumer embroidery machines, and I operated a commerical embroidery business for several years.

I haven't got the 600 buyt I do have a Bernette Deco and when I save designs on my USB stick I have to ensure they are saved to a particular folder in the stick. Perhaps there is a similar type of requirement?

Ebroidering two llines

I don't think you can do 2 lines of text in the computer of the machine. If you have a software program that allows you to do lettering, you can do 2 or more lines. I haven't found anywhere in the instructions that really helps with lettering stored in the machine. I purchased Embroidery Magic 2 for $98. It is a powerful little program for the price and comes with 5 fonts. Also does manual digitizing (which I haven't really figured out yet). Do you have PED Basic to downloand designs from your computer to an embroidery card? If so you can download many free designs and purchase lettering at very good prices on many sites. Just remember that lettering purchased from the web doesn't not mean it is a keyboard font and you will need to combine letters to make words (treat each like a separate design). Maybe this will help.
