Re: ap 700

If you have a wired router it should be plugged into that. The IP address of the Wireless Access Point is usually When you see your Access Point page go to the setup option. Do the basic setup and then go to the Wireless Option. I usually put the dot in the WPA PSK part. That way i can put my own password in as long as there are no less than 8 characters. Click on apply and ok. If you need to get on the internet wirelessly then you need to connect using the password you just created. Let's hope this helps you out.

How to install a wireless access point

It's pretty simple and has a website where you can pull the quick installation instrucitons if you don't have them. Basically, you set your computer network card (the wired one) to an IP address in the same set as the Access Point's default address. It may be or 1.1, so you give your PC a 192.168.0 or 1. something but 1 address, plug a cable into the port on the AP, open Internet Explorer, and follow the login instructions. We tend to put our AP's at memorable numbers like 221 222 223 etc, or 251,252, whatever so we know where they are. Anyway, give it an address on your network, turn on security if you need to, then unplug it from your computer and back into the network. Reset your computer's network card to either a proper address or Obtain an address Automatically, and the AP should work.

I am looking at installing a total of 9 AP's at a location. Because of this I wanted to find a solution to manage or controll the AP centrally. I was looking at the Netgear WNDAP350 AP and the WMS5316...

No- the WMS5316 is not a full wireless controller and will not provide seamless roaming. To use the WNDAP350 with seamless roaming, you need to use the Netgear WC7520, which is a full controller.

exist 2 ways to do it...

first if you now te ip address and the user and password of admin, conect the ap at the ethernet port of you pc and configure it with a ip in the same range that the ap, put the ip direcction in the web browser.

the second way is conect the ap to the serial port and run the hyperterminal if you have windows, maybe you need configure the values of the conecctions.

Cant get accesss to the configuration window

In order to get to the AP, and assuming you just plugged it in, you need to put everything in the 192.168.0.x domain. The AP defaults to, so you need to make sure that the router gives out IP addresses that does not include 0.50, or change the IP address of the AP. Likewise, the computer you are trying to log into the AP needs to start in the 192.168.0.x domain, with x being anything but the gateway address (normally 1), or 50.

My guess is you have a router built into the modem and it is giving out different addresses. You can set your network address by hand to be 192.168.0.pick a number like 5 and plug into the ethernet port of the AP (may need a crossover) to get to it.

Post back and let us know what you found.

Reset AP-700 failed

Simple solution, firstly do not press the reset button to long as it will erase all software, or you will have to do this the hard way. google the software called ScanTool run that from either ethernet or wireless, this tool shows you the AP-700's ip, mac, and name (some techs run these AP's coadjacent so it shows the name as well). You can change the ip of the AP-700 from here most of the time with the proper pass, then you should be able to connect to it regardless. if this dont help ... Proxim/Support/AP700 you will find more of an in depth approach of these things there.
