If you have a wired router it should be plugged into that. The IP address of the Wireless Access Point is usually When you see your Access Point page go to the setup option. Do the basic setup and then go to the Wireless Option. I usually put the dot in the WPA PSK part. That way i can put my own password in as long as there are no less than 8 characters. Click on apply and ok. If you need to get on the internet wirelessly then you need to connect using the password you just created. Let's hope this helps you out.

How can I extend the router's range?

Most routers have about 200m range. However, the actual range in real-time environment is much less. Generally the antenas are omni-directional, however, directional antenna can be used to improve range in one direction. There are two ways to increase the range/ coverage area (i) Adding external antenna of appropriate type (ii) Installing additional Access Point (AP) connecting it with the existing AP wirelessly in line-of-sight (creating WDS) OR connecting the two APs with wire, which is a better option as it provides robust and reliable connectivity between APs.

Based on my on-site experience, I suggest that you may relocate the AP to another location depending upon your network environment. It has always helped me a great deal. Placing the AP at the desk level, avoiding obstacles such as concrete pillars, walls, steel cabinets etc in the signal path have remarkable effect on range and overall performance of the network.

HOPE IT HELPS...Let me know if you need any further clarification assistance specific to you AP make and model. Don't forget to rate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Cant get accesss to the configuration window

In order to get to the AP, and assuming you just plugged it in, you need to put everything in the 192.168.0.x domain. The AP defaults to, so you need to make sure that the router gives out IP addresses that does not include 0.50, or change the IP address of the AP. Likewise, the computer you are trying to log into the AP needs to start in the 192.168.0.x domain, with x being anything but the gateway address (normally 1), or 50.

My guess is you have a router built into the modem and it is giving out different addresses. You can set your network address by hand to be 192.168.0.pick a number like 5 and plug into the ethernet port of the AP (may need a crossover) to get to it.

Post back and let us know what you found.

Reset AP-700 failed

Simple solution, firstly do not press the reset button to long as it will erase all software, or you will have to do this the hard way. google the software called ScanTool run that from either ethernet or wireless, this tool shows you the AP-700's ip, mac, and name (some techs run these AP's coadjacent so it shows the name as well). You can change the ip of the AP-700 from here most of the time with the proper pass, then you should be able to connect to it regardless. if this dont help ... Proxim/Support/AP700 you will find more of an in depth approach of these things there.

How to extend the range of my MN-700 Base Station

Hi Entry Level Extenders (or by their real technological name Repeaters) are chipset dependent and therefore guaranteed to work with Hardware of the same Brand. You can try to build your Own Extender. Buy two Access Points (AP) one of them has to be able to be configured as Client. Configure the client AP to communicate to the MN-700 and then plug the second AP to it and configure it as a regular AP. Put the concoction in the middle of the way between the MN-700 and the destination computer. Doing such an arrangement might cost a little more, and be a little bulky. On the other hand it would not cut the bandwidth into Half as Repeaters do. Otherwise may be this can Help. Extending Distance: Wireless Bridging: Wireless Segregation:
