Convergence problem on rear projection CRT TVs.

I guess I have to pay money for a solution, which is not what this website says. The only answer I got was pay money and we'll tell you. Is that true/

This is a convergence problem. You will need the stk's changed and a pico fuse or 2. also from looking at the pic you might want to clean the lenses and mirror after the repair to bring back some of the vibrant colors the set once had when it was new. This repair should run you anywhere from $300-$500 depending on your area and the tech that comes out. If you need more information or would like to try to fix it on your own please let me know.

I have the same Hitachi CP-S860 and have found the problem is with the convergence on the left and right sides of the picture. The one I am working on has a bad ghosting problem also - you can really see the ghosting when the MENU is on the screen. The center convergence is OK. Following Pics show Circle / Cross pattern - 1st pic the red, green and blue are turned on - 2nd pic shows green and blue on only. I do not have the service manual for this set so I do not know the convergence procedure on this one. I have mostly been repairing NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic and Christie LCD & DLP Projectors.

Sounds like the green is out of focus. If the focus control for the green does not control it enough to make the width the same as the red, then, the lens on top of the green can be adjusted to focus that tube. On the lens, there is a wing nut on a screw to loosen it and move the lens left or right a bit to help with the focus. Hope this helps.
