I have opened my LiteOn LVW-1105HC to troubleshoot this "Irritating Problem". Thankfully I figured it out !! Once I opened the unit I saw that there was still a DVD in the tray. Upon trial and error, I realized that the DVD was stuck to the turnstyle by a "sticky ring". This ring must have started out to be more of a slightly sticky ring and over time, age and heat it became a virtual glue which held the DVD to the turnstyle and prevented the DVD from ejecting !! Earlier, when I had found notes on this subject, they had recommended pushing on the drawer just after pressing eject and that seemed to work. This must have jostled the DVD loose from this sticky pad and allowed the drawer to open. Over time this did not work anymore because the disk got stuck in there. Hope this helps ...

To Update: 1/4/2011 - Since clearing the stuck DVD I'm now back to having to push the drawer in twice before it will open. You push the eject button on either the remote or the unit itself and then the second you see the drawer trying to open (2 seconds later) press the drawer front in twice and then it should open.

There is a plate that rides on top of the drive inside the unit which steadys the DVD in place by the bottom turnstyle (which is magnetic) moving upward to meet this top turnstyle above mounted in the plate and this secures the DVD in place so that it can now spin securely. If I remove this top plate ... the drawer functions normally without having to press in on it to get it to open. It seems to have something to do with the bottom spindle being overly magnetic and therefore will not drop down and allow the drawer to open ?? Once you push the drawer in 2 twice it releases somehow ??

The tray is either broken, or off track. You may be able to get it back on track by opening the cover and checking it out, but unplug it first, and only try this if warrantee is over and you're feeling brave...

Use your knuckles to knock on top of cabinet just above disc tray door while at the same time pressing open button,99% of the time disc tray will open. The problem you have is caused by a worn out belt drive or the tray is out of alignment. The disc tray belts only cost $2,when tray is open you can see the minature belt that controls door to the right.Use twizzers to remove and replace.Belt size 1.9

E1 (rear) error. DVD tray will not open.

there might be a possibility that as soon as the tray closed the dvd shifted inside the machine. the dvd is stuck yes which means that the tray wont open because the dvd is blocking the gear turning. if so you are going to have to take it to your Dealership to open up the player and remove the disk. you can try it yourself but it's not recommended. tray gears will have to be tested to see if the tray will open once the disk is out though

Liteon LVW-1105HC will not record

I had the same problem.
This is what worked like a charm for me:
Take off the top cover and locate the drive.
On top of the drive will be a metal plate with a plastic circle in the middle.
This holds the disk in place when spinning.
Locate 2 little black screws which holds the plate on.
Loosen the screws slightly until the the tray opens.
If it is too tight the tray gets stuck.
I put two tiny pieces of double sided tape, about 1/16 of an inch, as spacers next to the screw holes so the plate stays tight.
It may not be necessary but I did it anyway.

Good luck and I hope it works for you too.

The tray won't open. There is a disk in the tray and I was able to play it back. But, when I tried to eject the disk, the tray woudn't open.

something like this is a physical problem. you should contact the manufacturer to see if there is a manual eject button and if not you will have to take it apart to get the disk.

Open the unit and remove the DVD manually. The magnet that holds the DVD in place is stuck to the top cover.

LVW - 5005

Remove the cover of LVW and access the DVD assy, unscrew the 4 screws holding the DVD assy to the LVW bottom, remove the top and bottom shield (also 4 screws)and remove the top black plastic cover (4 screws). You will access the DVD spindle.Remove the disk if you still have a disk stuck inside.Visually check the spindle sticky rubber ring, most likely some sticky material migrated on top of the rubber ring and your DVD was stuck on it. Clean the best you can with a cleaner and a non lint cloth.I used a cleaner/degreaser for electronics.DO NOT POWER your LVW BEFORE reinstalling the black plastic cover. There is a laser inside !!! You may now try and if the drawer opens and closes, reassemble everything opposite way you disassembled.
