I have been using my Sunbeam MixMaster Model 2486 on rare occassions for many years. When I opened the machine to see why the beaters wouldn't lock-in anymore, the spring that both locks-in the beaters and releases the beaters popped off its mounting. It is possible to see where the spring goes back (there is an axel-style rod over which it fits) but the attitude and orientation isn't clear. Is there a diagram out there of the mixer showing the correct orientation of the spring? Thanks to the community.
Here's the solution. The spring controls the beater eject button. The spring is mounted on the metal shaft and is oriented so that the straight side of the spring rests along the white plastic part adjacent to the shaft, and the curved side of the spring points outward and downward so that it will rest against the case when the unit is reassembled.
