Hi, best practice when troubleshooting a no-sound Bose Lifesytle system is to first begin with the internal sources (i.e. the AM/FM). Bose Lifestyle system when connected properly (media center and bass box via the data cable) should show a steady green light underneath the bass module. Begin by simply playing AM/FM tuner and try to increase the volume till 45 (normally the sound becomes audible at this level). If the system still has no sound, then try to check if the bass module is steady green. When you see a blinking green LED (slow green) then do kindly check the DIP siwtch (red latch switch with white mini switches) just beside the Light and data connection. All of the switches should be in "ON" position (basically toggled upwards with the arrow marking indication). Before changing DIP switch settings do ensure that the bass module is not connected to the electrical power. after ensuring that all DIP switch are in the "ON" position, connect the data cable firs and then power up the bass module. Then you should see the bass module blink green twice and once you turn on the nedia center, the green blinking should turn steady green. That should sort out your problem.

Also do note tha this procedure applies only to Series II Lifesytle System and does not include the Series IV (with the smaller bass module).

If all still fails, there is an internal problem with the bass module which would require servicing.

Hope this helps!

I have a Bose Lifestyle 35 Series II and want to know whether it's compatible with a DVD+RW. I'll burn it in a Toshiba recorder, finalize it and then play it on the Bose. Will it play?

Hi This what Bose say about formats

"The Lifestyle® 35 system plays DVD-video in interlaced format, as well as music on CD, CD-R (recordable) and CD-RW (re-writable). The system also plays MP3 files on CD and AM/FM radio. "

So by the sound of this i suspec that you may struggle with DVD/RW. but my best advice is try it.

Connect lifestyle 48 to plasma and dvr

You need to buy a Bose VS 2, video enhancer. Your cable/sattelite, vcr and aux connect to the VS 2 and the VS2 connects one HDMI cable to the TV. The VS2 then upconverts DVDs played on the lifestyle through the VS2/HDMI.

Bose lifestyles v28 plays dvds in black and white

Check your video output settings in the menu. If you are using a composite video output and do not have the system sut up for it, you will get a B&W picture. Check your menu settings.

Pretty much the same problem

I have the same system. I have a Lifestyle and a Sony TV with a Samsung Blueray player. I also have an X-box 360, plus my pc with all my CDs (I-tunes) plays through my bose. Do this:

1. Use the optical cable for the blueray player to the Bose (AUX).
2. Use a digital audio cable from the cable box (either black or orange output) to the Bose CBL-SAT digital input. (it's a single audio cable)
3. For my PC, I'm using a digital cable from the pc to the Bose. I'm using the TV output because it's empty.
4. For my x-box (which I'm not too happy about) I'm using regular red-white audio cables from Bose TV input directly to the TV audio out. (You can play all of the above through this channel, but don't).

I figured the most important high quality sound should come from the blueray player and from watching regular cable tv. For picture, you should be using all HDMI connections.

Hope this helps.

DVD Problem

Call Bose and they will send you an update CD to update the firmware of the CD/DVD player. I had a problem where a few of my new movies would not play at all. They sent me an update, no more issues. If you're a registered owner, they will send update CDs frequently, be sure you're registered as well.
