Question about Sony MDR-V500 Professional Headphones

Got no sound from the right earphone of my MDR-v500 headphones

I bought this MDR-V500 in 2003 and use it for monitoring and rehearsal with my Yamaha keyboard. A few days ago I had them on my head and just flipped the right earpad and then.... no more sound from that side. But sound comes from the left side O.K.
I want to fix these headphones, but i don't even know how to open it or remove the pads to see if a cable is detached or something. Please tell me of any ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix. Thanks a lot.

Re: Got no sound from the right earphone of my MDR-v500...

It's actually quite easy to open up ... the pad just slips off, and its really easy to get back on and there is a set of three small t screws underneath that just need unscrewing and then you're inside

My earphones i jst bought have been torn on part of the wire and now no sound is comming out of it. Is there any way i can fix it?

If they are new return them to where you bought them or contact the maker. You are entitled to your money back or a replacement. DO NOT attempt to fix them.

Hello there, pls help. i have a pair of MDR-V500 Headphones but i can only get sound from the right side when using my ipod. How do i sort this problem out!! Andrew

Do the headphones work with any other devices? If so then it's the I-Pod socket that is faulty. Otherwise check out my tip on headphone problems. Just click my user name to find it.

We just bought a viore 19" class lcd and can't figure out how to hook up our new sony wireless MDR-RF925RK RF headphones so that one person can hear the tv and no one else can hear the sound.

After doing some searching for the TV you mentioned, it appears it doesn't have any outputs to plug the headphones. Website says it only has inputs. You would need a monitor or a fixed audio out for this to function as you wish. Sorry.

Can I replace the ear cushions on a Sony MDR-V200 headset?

Hey--it was reassuring to see that I'm not the only one with this question. Lots of places (Staples, Radio Shack) have the right size replacements, but it takes a little more digging to be sure you can find something more than what looks like doughnut-shaped packing material. B&H Photo Audio does, and here's a link:

Sony MDR-V500 headphones: Cushions falling apart!

You can go to Radio Shack and find some that fit. Although Sony does not sell them as they woudl ofcourse want you to purchase new ones you can buy third party cushions that fit.

Jack replacement for mdr-v500 headphone

You don't need to look inside the plug... just open up the earcups and test the jack plug with a continuity tester.

But FYI, Red = ring, Green = tip.
