Question about Sony DVP-NS71HP DVD Player

Sony DVP NS71 Component Video split frame

I had a Sony DVP-NS71HP that developed a problem. Using the component video output, it worked fine for a while, then started having a problem. The display shown on the TV ends up with the scene split in half vertically, there is a line going up and down in the middle of the screen and then part of the scene on each side. I returned the player for another one. Worked fine for a while, now it has the same problem. Any ideas?

Re: Sony DVP NS71 Component Video split frame

You've inadvertently turned on the progressive scan. Look up in the manual, or ask customer service online, how to turn off progressive scan.

Have Sony KDL-40EX400 LCD TV, Sony STR-DH510 AV reciever, Sony DVP-NS57P dvd player. When connected to reciever using component connections the TV does not show a picture. I have seen this problem in a...

  • If I understand your question correctly you want to watch your DVD on your TV thru your receiver,
  • you need to connect either composite connections "Audio/Video Output " red/white/yellow RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your receiver
  • ( pls note that component to composite conversion is not possible on receiver ..use one type connection thru all the way )
  • to "Audio/Video input " red/white/yellow RCA jacks or "Optic Cable input" of your TV
  • than just switch to DVD mode on corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your DVD sound and video both are on the TV..
  • Hope this helps!

Need owners manual for proper connections to tv w/direct connections I hsve a sony dvp ns300 cd/dvd player

The connection you use will depend on the TV. For the best picture, connect component video cables (not included) from the DVD player's output (to the right of the other jacks on the back of the unit) to the component video in of the TV. Then connect the Right and Left audio from output 1 to the appropriate audio input of the TV. (These may vary depending on the TV and other devices connected to the TV. They might be audio 1 or part of a group with the component video inputs.)

Otherwise you can use an S-video cable connection and the separate audio cable or the composite video cable (which has 1 yellow RCA plug for video and 2 others (red and white) for audio). Connect these from the output of the player to the matching input ports of the TV.

For TVs with only RF in, you need a composite video to RF modulator (converter). See a store like Radio Shack for this.

The manual is available from Sony: . Pictures of the connections start at page 15 and more detail is provided from page 17 through 23. See the manual for details if you have a home theater system or other external speaker option.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I have connected component leads from my dvd

Enable the component output on the DVD player menu. Sometimes the component output is shared between RGB/S-Video/Component, make sure you select Y/Pb/Pr on the player's menu.

I need help connecting sony dvp ns 300 to a jvc tv. I can't watch dvd at all, confused about the wiring where does it go?

The CD/DVD player has three output ports:
(i) Line out Video used to connect the yellow pin of composite cable.
(ii) S-video out use d to connect an S-video cable.
(iii) Component video out (red, blue, green) used to connect a component video cable.

So, in order to connect the CD/DVD player to the TV, the TV should have either of the corresponding input port on it.

However, the video quality transmitted by component video cable will be the best among the three.

So, you may connect the TV and the CD/DVD player using an appropriate cable.

All the above connections require an additional audio cable to transmit audio from the CD/DVD player to the TV.
In this case, you may use an RCA (red and white) audio cable to connect the "R and L" audio out port on the CD/DVD player to the corresponding "R and L" audio in port on the TV.

Performing all the above steps will help you get the DVD player work with the TV.

wish u good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Dvd in black and white should be color

Your probably had connected with a component video without changing the video setting! If you video setting is under composite/S-Video output but you end up connect the video source with component video cable, you need to go to the setup to change it.
It could be the other way around too!

Sony DVP-NS315 cant play only Video Disc

If you are using just a "yellow" ended cable for the video, maybe your custom settings are set to use "component"? I have been using this same dvd player for a while with the component video out and it works fine. I hope this helps.

Check your cables between your DVD player and the TV, this play has component video outputs that could possibly cause this issue.
