Volume and menu does not display

I am having a strange problem with my TV. When I turn the volume up or down, the display that shows the volume increasing or decreasing does not display. The volume is increasing and decreasing, the display is just not showing. Also, when I choose Menu the menu screen does not show up either. Finally, when I choose Input, my input screen does not show up even though the input is changing when I hit the button.

Re: Volume and menu does not display

I had this problem on my Aquos (LC-46D62U). It was NOT a hardware problem. I recommend turning off the television. Next unplug the television for 5 to 10 seconds. This resets something for the television. Plug it back in and turn on the television. You should now be able to get your volume and other on-screen displays.

SOURCE: no antenna tv signal

Your dish remote should be set to the code for your TV. Then you will be able to control the channel number, not just up/down, as well as volume and maybe even the input. But do try to get a real remote for your TV so you can get to its menus.
Meanwhile, use menu+menu to see the channel being output by the Dish receiver. (Must be a 622/722... based on the 60 you listed.) Try to find an unused UHF channel number that your set does have in its up/down list. Match Air/Cable setting of Dish and TV. The Dish output is analog (NTSC) although the tuner(s) only accept digital (ATSC).

When i first turn on tv sound is fine . then it will drop down in volume badly .

Many newer types of TVs have what's called "Volume Leveling", which means the TV automatically lowers the volume if a sudden increase in the broadcast signal volume is detected. Check to see If "Volume Leveling" is present on your TV and currently turned "on". Refer to your owners manual for this. It should be in the Audio section in the menu on your TV. Turn the "Volume Leveling" to the "off" position to disable "Volume Leveling".

Don't try to reset it to factory. That will cause you more problems that will be harder to fix, especially with no remote. (Rhetorical question: Why do so very many people lose their TV remotes. How does that happen?)

Press the Volume Up and Down buttons at the same time. This will display the on screen menu. Release the buttons when the menu is displayed.

Now press the Vol Up button each time to advance the menu until the word 'PICTURE' is displayed. Press the 'CHANNEL down / ENTER' button to select this part of the menu.

Now press the Vol Up button each time to advance the menu until the word 'COLOR' is displayed. Press the 'CHANNEL down / ENTER' button to select this part of the menu.

To add color back, use the 'VOLUME up / Set+' key. To reduce the color, press the 'VOLUME down / Set-' key.

The user manual doesn't give a way to exit the menu, so my guess is that when left alone the TV will exit out of the menus itself on a timer. If not, try pressing Volume Up and Down together once more.

Cannot increase the volume on Coby TV

It sounds that the volume to your TV is locked in its service menu. To unlock it, you have to enter its service menu options to unlock it. This is really a skilled work, need sound knowledge in electronics to proceed. Improper data settings done to this window might turn your TV irreparable. It will be best to contact any expereinced service techinician in this matter.

Does the the little bar graph on screen volume display react when you turn the volume up and down or does it say something like TV VOLUME IS FIXED?

Try using your remote to look in your tv's MENU for the AUDIO OPTIONS.

Check to make sure the SPEAKER option is turned ON.

If that doesnt work, try running a cable from your tv's audio out jacks in the back to one of your home stereo's AUX inputs and see if you can hear the tv through your stereo.

Good Luck.

I have actually seen this before. The tv in my living room did it and it was a simple fix. I had to download the latest software. Put it on a usb key. Turn the tv off... Stick the key in and load the new software.

The only TRICK was that I had to hold down the VOLUME - button on the tv itself while my wife worked the remote.

So, if you can hold down your VOLUME - button and do things to your tv I would think this might work for you too. I know it sounds strange that a software upgrade can fix this, but it did for me.

Hope this helps

Hello Blindrid,
What I would suggest you do is Press your MENU button on the tv remote, Then down to SOUND and then Turn the AUTO VOLUME to OFF. Then come out of the menu screen.
Just to check that it has all work correctly. turn you volume upto a certain number for example 25
Then turn your TV off the turn it back on. Wait until it is displaying a picture then press the volume button Once either up or down and you should see that it will go to 24 or 26 depending on what button you pressed for the volume. This will keep your volume set to whatever you had it on before you turned the tv off.

Hope this Helps Please leave a thumbs up.
