Stopped at a location came back out and the tomtom would not come on. Unit is fully charged and I have NO clue where the reset is.
I had the same problem, it was working fine, made a stop then on next try it would not turn on. Light shows power on unit and car adapter?? I tried resetting with paper clip in whole on front, no go??
I just bought a TomTom 125. I worked initially but it would not turn on even though it was plugged into the car. For the pass week, I have been trying to turn it on, but only able to turn it one once. I am planing to exchange for a new one, or buy a different brand.I just bought a TomTom 125. Re: tomtom wont turn on
If the green LED comes on OK and you have tried a re-set with a paper clip through the reset hole and it still won't switch on then the most likely cause is a blown chip inside the tomtom. This can be caused when you start your car. The extra strain of turning the engine causes voltage spikes to arrise in the cars wiring , just as your starter motor turns. Unfortunatly this extra high voltage , called a "spike" can damage the tomtom. Only solution is to take it to a specialist repairer or to return it to tomtom for repair. Don't let your average electronics shop have a go they are more likely to make a mess inside . Its a specialist job !

If your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is frozen, won’t turn on or does not
behave as it should, it can be fixed by resetting or restarting your
TomTom device. A reset will not delete any data from your device, with the exception of SMS messages on TomTom GO500/700.
Connect
your GO/ONE/RIDER to the power charger. If you have a power charger,
use it to power your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER. If you do not have a power
charger, make sure that the battery in your TomTom GO/ONE is fully
charged. Note: You need to charge your GO/ONE for at least 2 hours using the 12-24V cigarette lighter adapter.
Reset
your GO/ONE/RIDER. To reset the unit, you simply have to push a
straightened paper clip (or something similar) into the RESET hole on
the device.
On TomTom GO 910/710/510, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device.
On TomTom GO 700/500/300, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device with the word RESET right next to it.
On
TomTom ONE, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device, with
the word RESET right next to it (just below the SD card slot).
On
TomTom RIDER, the RESET hole is on the bottom of the device, behind the
SD card door. When opening the SD card door you will see the RESET hole
on the left, right underneath the SD card slot.
Your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is now reset. Finally, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
try resetting it, but first put it on the charger for a few hours to make sure its charged. using a paper clip or something similar, depress and hold the reset button located on the bottom of the unit for 15 seconds, then hold the power button for up to 5 seconds till the unit starts.
if that fails, hook your tomtom to your computer and run tomtom home and see if that will update or repair it.
The 910 satnav/mounting interface is dreadful- it is the cause of half the problems on this site! You can order the battery on the net. Google VF5 or Samsung ICR18650-24. To replace, strip off rubber strips. You need a mini star screwdriver, carefully pull unit out of cover gently levering at the side. Carefully observe plastic carry through which acts as button on the front and base clip underneath- this must be reinserted correctly. It is a vital part of the structure- observe it carefully! Remove upper small PCB and large PCB after removing 2 electrical connectors. Battery located under PCB. Dispense with rubber mounting. Reassemble carefully battery holder (loosely until you have placed previous plastic carry through). Tighten battery holder to hold plastic strip which must be located over mounting bracket, carefully reinsert both electrical connectors (different sizes), reattach large PCB then small one, then screw back in cover. It is likely you will then be stuck on initial screen with unit not booting correctly. You must then do software resets (opened paperclip inserted into invisible hole next to connecting strip at back). It is likely that you will have to connect to Tom Tom HOME to do this. I failed here as the darn unit will not connect to my computer.
make sure you're fully charged, remove any optional memory cards (depends on the unit) there should be a reset hole, place a straightened paperclip into the hole and press for 15 seconds.
140/130/125
make sure you're fuly charged, press and hold the on/off button for about 15 seconds until the unit restarts
Did you try to reset the Tom Tom? Did you try to see if the unit is charging or fully charged (samll green light on the lower righthand corner should illuninate when charging)? I have had problems with the power connection at the base of the unit getting loose. Try taking it into the computer and getting a full charge if it is a charging problem. Not an expert but expereinced the same problem recently.
Hello,I own a TomTom also. I have listed the procedures from TomTom Home and hope this will work. First try a soft reset (Reset button is located at the bottom of the TomTom device next to where the DC plug plugs in). Make sure your batteries are fully charged up or the USB cord is plugged in.
If your device is not starting up properly, follow the steps below:
If you have backed up your TomTom to your computer, then you can reinstall the TomTom application from your backed up data.*In rare cases, your TomTom device may not start correctly or may stop responding. If this happens, try resetting your device. A reset does not delete any data.

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.
If this doesn't help.
contact them about the problem...
