Re: tv won't start
5 blinks is meaning IC4511 has a problem. Just check to make sure nothing is touching the IC4511s leads. If it looks like the leads are good.Try unplugging it and just putting a little pressure directly in the middle of the ic pushing down just a little then plug the set in and try it again. If it starts you probaly have a hairline crack in the solder connections. Let me know how you make out. If you need more assistance just let me know.

How long was it back befor you turned on this potentiometers ?
Dust and more can be come into the potentiometers of a crt (cathode ray tube) projetion tv in the years that its old it is not strange.
Ist an older kind of model of projection tv.
Treat them with contact spray , also not only red the r g b potentiometers but all the potentiometers that are parts of the convergention panel. and adjust them on a screen with the base saturation of color to zero so you adjust a good gray tray with a balans without a red brown or green or blue surplus so that you have white gray black in balance if you have adjusted , tur back on the basic color saturation to your prefered level.
Chances are pretty good that the weather will be fine.
To see some brown spots on the board and replace any carbon composite resistors for carbon or metal film resistors in the print because of high tolerance over this kind of resistance.
It sounds like it could be your main board. Over the years the board's connections could become loose or the board itself can be going bad. I would call an expert maybe someone from an online shop like rivervalleyelectronics.net can get you a board for cheap since alot of these older model TVs parts are not carried by the manufacturer.
Clean the small front projection mirror. That mirror can get dust on it and will cause the projected image to appear dull and dim and cleaning that mirror will usually restore the brightness and crisp details in the image.
You want to remove the top rear panel. Remove the screws and the top, along the sides, and along the middle of your TV (from the rear). Onec that is done be very careful because the mirroe is attached to the rear panel of the TV. set the back down and with a clean cloth and a can of air remove the dust off of the mirror, use a light window cleaner, after removing the dust. To clean the bulbs just use air to blow the dust off (not not attempt to clean the bulbs with any solvent.
as i previously posted, my picture was dim, muddy looking after
replacing lamp with osram lamp. i fixed mine by taking the screen off
and cleaning the small mirror. it had a thick layer of dust on it,
cleaned with a microfiber cloth. no water, no glass cleaners. i also
used a very fine new small paint brush and dusted the projector lens
which also had a dust film. brightness, contrast and clarity returned!
there are several things that need to take place for the lamp to turn on. first the color wheel needs to turn on ( if you can hear a whinning noise then this is fine) next the tv will send a signal to the lamp ballast to turn on, and the ballast needs the 130v dc supply from the power board ( simoly remove the lamp and reinstall the lamp door, turn tv on, and if you hear an arcing noise from the ballast you know this is fine too. the board that controls all of this is the dmd board. so if the color wheel works, ballast starts then i would replace the dmd board....
