Re: sound

Check the speaker by replacing it with another known, working speaker. If sound quality improves its your speaker. Make sure latest drivers are installed correctly. Make sure sound card is seated properly.

Hi i have a dell vostro 1000 which says when i try and use skype that i need a sound card, please can you tell me what is the quickest way to fix this? can i download something? Thanks

Can you get sound otherwise, for example playing a CD?

If so, all you need to do is open Skype.

Go to Tools>Options>Audio Settings.

There is a drop down menu for speakers. See if there is another option other than the one is showing and try it.

Also, note where the slider is on the volume and move it to the right if needed.

Finally, make sure your main sound is not muted. Probably not, but just thought I would throw that in.

If you have no sound on your computer at all, your sound driver is probably corrupt. You will need to reinstall it. You can find the driver here:

I recently bought a Packard Bell LM81, having problems with the sound, when playing back DVD´s the music plays loud enough but the voice is extremely quiet, also having problems with sound when...

first lets make sure your speakers are in the right plug on the back of that sound card. Sounds like you have the speakers in a plug that supports 5.1 audio after witch your only hearing that distinct channel.

Check the back there should be 3 or 4 plug ins 3.5 mm in size. They should be labeled. Make sure your plugged in the correct port on the back of the sound card itself.

please update me with any details if your problem was fixed with this solutions or not.

Thanks for using

Right side speaker is not working

Most likely, ensure the balance is set correctly to the middle.
If this is set correctly, try swapping the speakers. If the bad speaker (the right side one) fails to play when plugged into the left side cable, then the speaker is faulty. However if the bad speaker now plays but the good one doesn't, its an issue with either the cable or the sound card. Replace them in that order.
Hope this helps, Benji

No sound

Play any mp3 or cd with Windows media player and note if the video shows sound playing or not. If yo see the graphics, check the speakers. Many people plug the speakers in to wrong whole. Most pc's are the middle whole. Now check the mute button. On the task bar in the lower right hand corner, single or double click the speaker icon. Clear the mute button. Next, check to see if the driver is in place. If you are using Windows Right click on my computer, choose properties, hardware tab, and then device manager. Look under sound and let me know if the driver is present for sound, video and game controllers. The step will be slightly different is it is not an Xp operating system. If the driver is the problem you need to tell us what operating system, what brand computer, what model number, and depending on the brand, the serial number to locate the correct driver.

Toshia Satelite sound skips when playing through speakers

From what I can tell your machine uses a Realtek sound device. Download and reinstall this driver to see if it fixes your problem.

Audio Breaks

Hello vatsala,

Try downloading and installing the latest sound drive available for your motherboard. Here is the link.

If that doesn’t work, try using another set of speakers to make sure it’s not your speakers that are bad and if that doesn't work, you may have a bad sound card and will need to put in new sound card.
