Question about Sony MHC-GX470 Shelf System
I have a Sony HCD-GX470 3-disk shelf system..
When I play a CD, I will hear a click sound after a few seconds of play, which continues and it will make my CD skip repeatedly...
I'm beginning to think these mini CD players are a waste of money because they quit functioning properly after less than a year...I really don't wanna have to buy another one, so I'd appreciate a solution to my problem. Thanks
SOURCE: I have a Sony MHC
I think grooves are dirty / clogged in sled section of lens mechanism. There is flexible wire between lens and circuit board and this should also be checked as it can be cracked or misaligned.
Below is exploded view of lens in MHC-GX470 and marked area to be checked or cleaned.

SOURCE: cd's skip
all the rca's have been released without quality control... you will have to open and adjust the potentiometers (the adjustible resistors on the main board) to re-calibrate the laser timings. However the way that the boards are mounted inside the boombox's chassis you will need to take apart everything to be able to reach the main board (inside vertical right side board with large heatsink and fan) without causing a short (as to be able to properly adjust these you need to have a cd playing and the whole thing needs to be upright.
I would recommend throwing it all way, not worth the time if you don't have the patience.
