I would recommend using a 1 or 2 gig ram chip if you need help finding which one you need such as DDR or DDR2 then take your old one and someone can help you match up!

At what point do you replace the timing belt?

depends on its use ,any garage will give you the scare story and insist its done like yesterday but this vehicle is 4 yrs old and done a max of 40,000 miles i would say that with modern materials a belt is good for 100.000 or ten years old as they do deterorate in a dry hot climate sooner but if in a cool wet climate then maybe even longer say 120,000 but 60,000 is the recomended by the dealer but at their prices ??

I'm wanting to add ram memory. Will a Micron 2GB PC3200 DDR-400 ECC Reg ram work? Thanks! Harold

I dont think it will.
It is the right type and speed, but it says your maximum module size is 1 GB.
So you will need 2x1GB sticks for a max of 2GB

I want to now which ram is used for dell latitude 640, latitude 520, latitude 430, latitude 420 and inspiron 2200 is it ddr2 or ddr1 and max capicity for upgrade

Here are the max memory and speeds:
Lat C640 is Max 512M per stick DDR-266 (PC2100) or DDR333 ( PC2700 ) for a total of 1024 Meg

Lat D520 is either 2 or 4 Meg total. DDR2-667 ( PC2-5300 )
Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.Maximum memory for systems with the Intel 945GM chipset is 4096MB, maximum memory with the Intel 940GML chipset is 2048MB
Lat D430 has only slot with a Max of 1 Meg. You can use DDR2-667 (PC2-5300)  or DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)

Lat D420 is a max of  1.5G    . Use 1GB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)

Inspiron 2200 is one slot with a max of 1280 Meg. recomended is 1GB DDR-333 (PC2700)

Here is a link to find almost any memory you need:

NOTE:
When mixed speeds in the same PC, the memory will run at the slowest speed installed or the highest speed allowed by your system, whichever is slower.

Good Luck

Hi there.
Try reseating the memory again and try to boot up, if it doesn't work put the original memory back in and try again.
Please post back with the results.

I need more speed

I would max out my memory before i would buy another processor. if your mem is maxed out at this time, try XP smoker. its a really good optimizer geared for windows. it will make your cpu 3 times as fast as the current processing rate you are experiencing now.

Computer Memory Help!

I would not do it since your computer is recomended for pc 4200(533) and that chip set is recomended for pc6400(800) this matters for the life of the other components not to mention that your computer won't post and could cause dammage, even though your board supports dual channel ddr2 , and I think you should get some memory that is not going to wear your computer down so that you end up having to worry about other repairs also , stay within the recomended speed , so no i wouldn't use those chips in there , and i wouldn't advise someone to do that , but i can see the deal you were looking at!

Computerwill not start

if you can't even access the bios, the first thing i'd do is to try and reload it. open your computer, find your motherboard, and find the little cmos switch.change it's position, wait a for 30 secs, the flip it back in the previous position. if your computer still won't start, then your motherboard is prolly faulty and you need to get a new one.

your ram can be removed by first pressing down the little switches on either side of the thingy that holds the ram, and then gently removing it. when you put in the new ram, make sure your pc is placed so that you're putting the ram in from above. then just gently squeeze it in and flip the switches back. you should hear a click.
