The only way to get extra space for more songs when your 8gb Nano is full is to eliminate some of the songs/pictures/files,etc that is on the player. There is no expansion SD card slot on the Nano. You can eliminate some of the songs/pictures,etc. by the following method: Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

Want to know how many songs ipod nano holds

It would vary as its 4gb but depending the size of your mp3 or since your ripping from CD it'd probably be a high bit rate so more space could you not clear out some space?
4gb usually holds 1,000 songs based off a 4 minute interval

Trying to download a movie from itunes to my ipod

It would be easier to diagnose the issue if you specified which generation your iPod Nano is. Here are potential solutions to your problem.

  1. Your iPods generation does not support video.
  2. The format of the video you are trying to put on your iPod is not meant to be played on an iPod. iPods only support .mov and .m4v formats. There are various ways to convert your video to iPod format such as using QuickTime.
  3. There is not enough space on your iPod to hold the movie. Movie files are quite large and an 8GB iPod may not be able to hold the file due to lack of disk space.
Hopefully one of these solutions was the correct diagnosis. Good luck!

Setting up new Ipod Touch 8gb

Reinstall iTunes. That's the easiest way to fix this problem. But don't uninstall it. Just download the latest version from Apple run it and restart your computer.

Ipod nano 3rd gen says I have less space than I do

Yes, it does seem like a rip off, but that little bit that seems to be gone is actually being used by the software that makes the iPod work, without it you would not be able to use your iPod at all. So don't worry, it is completely normal that you are missing half a GB.

I have only 700 songs on my 8gb ipod touch and it says its taking up 7gb

If you want more space you'll have to reduce the quality of your audio using another program. The 7gbs usage could be right because a lot of my 320kbps mp3's are around 10-13mb.
