Question about Kicker ZX650.4 Multi-Channel Amp - 480W ZX Series 4-Channel 650W Bridged Remote KickBass Car Audio Amplifier

Amp Power LED Display blinks red and no sound

I have the Kicker ZX650.4 amp. When I installed it, it worked fine, but when i hit a sharp turn the other night it stopped working. The power LED on the front now blinks red very interminantly. The ground is good and the amp is getting power, and the remote is connected because it only blinks when the stereo is on. The RCA inputs are also getting voltage according to my multimeter. The fuses on the amp are good. Anyone have any idea what is going on? The manual for the amp does not even have a blinking red light listed as a potential problem in the troubleshoot section.

mine stopped working on my way home. it was during a turn but i dont think it actually had to do with the turn.

Wow, I have the same identical problem. I had this Kicker amp installed in another car and right before I sold the car, the sound from my front left speaker started to cut out on turns periodically (left to be specific). I removed the amp when I sold the car and reinstalled it in a new one with all new wiring, speakers and head unit. About 2 months later the amp started to cut out on the front left channel again when making turns just like it did in the other car. I found that after this happens, if I turned the volume up to about -20, the sound would come back in that speaker and then I could turn it down again to a normal listening level. Now the red light stays flashing when the stereo is turned on and emits a weird short swoop sound every 3 seconds from the front left mid driver. I am going to take it apart this weekend and see if there is any thing obviously wrong internally with the speaker inputs.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. Does the voltage on either the B+ or remote pulse below ~11 volts when the LED flashes?

Hi Perry, my amp is doing the same thing and I tried your suggestions and the meter does fluctuate between 12v and in the upper 11v whenever the lights switch between the Power Light and the Protection Light. I unhooked all of the speaker inputs and the RCA cables and it still did the same thing. Should I try and see if another ground will work?

SHARP LED TV does not power on

Sounds like main board fault. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Green light turns red on hard notes with kicker 750 mono amp

First off, never, ever replace a blown fuse with a bigger one (especially one that is almost twice as big) unless it's an absolute emergency. Most of the time, the reason a fuse blows is because of a problem with the device (in this case, the amp). By installing a larger fuse, there's a very good chance the problem will become permanent (i.e. busted amp).

The amp could be going into an overcurrent mode when the bass hits and power cycling itself to try and reset the problem. If this is the case, take it to a local electronics repair shop and see what they can do.

It's also possible the input voltage to the amp is dropping too low during the bass hit, making the amp restart. Try putting a 1.0F or higher capacitor on the battery to buffer the power during the bass hits.

Could be the power supply or output stage electrolytic capacitors.
Possibly breaking down/drying out inside.

Powers on but no sound

Check the main amp fuse under the hood, even if it looks good just change it. Often times that light on the amp can come on just from the power amp tunon wire. Try a friends subwoofer box just to make sure the connectors on your box are good, and if that doesn't work then give me some more details....year/make/model of car, what kind of sub, what types of things do you see on the side of the amp....is there a green light as well as a red light?
