Phaser 6100 - lever unlocking error

I recently purchased a 6100 from ebay and it was working fine up until last week when it came up with "transfer belt error" and "lever unlocking error" As it's a 2nd-hand printer i don't have a problem replacing the transfer belt but the lever unlocking error is worrying me? also the LED on tray 1 is on also. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Error comes on as soon as printer is switched on. the display alternates between the transfer belt error and the lever one "lever unlocking error" I have stripped all plastics off printer trying to find something that looks out of the ordinary but can't find anything. think it might be something to do with the papertray as the LED on the printer for the papertray is on but again i can't find anything that looks out of place

This printer is same as Samsung CLP-500. So the problem is the same: Contaminated transfer belt sensor.

Do as follow:
Lift transfer belt assy from printer(Drop down back door 90 degree, press white button, lift top cover and release 2 locking levers, grab handle, pull the belt unit out), turn upside down & rotate plastic roller until small clear "window" appears along one edge of belt. Clean both sides of clear window with cotton bud. on same side as window, remove 2 screws securing flimsy plastic cover to gain acess to sensor, (follow red/black wires)remove a screw and pull out "U" shaped sensor(light transmiter and receiver), cotton bud and blow away dust on slits on inner surfaces of sensor. Reassamble and everything should be ok.If not, senser may be too contaminated, clean slits vigorousley with cotton bud, or maybe you just need a new sensor.

The theory is that printer detect transfer belt by transmit light through the clear "window". If either window not clear or sensor is contaminated, light will not reach the receriver part of the sensor, printer will report such errors.

Good luck.

This is an ongoing problem. When you press the button, the button is supposed to depress a black thing at the bottom, moving the white latches on both sides of the cover. Underneath the cover is the transfer belt & the drum.
as a work have to use a long thin slot screw driver to move the other latch..
the cover will pop up slightly to allow you go unlatch the lock.
the mechanism that is preventing this is at the back side of the printer

With the lCD screen facing you, open the top door. At the left of the opened door are (2) white rectangular push buttons just in front of the transfer belt assembly. Tape some folded up paper over the buttons so the sloppyness of the top door is taken up. Now the unlocking lever has some extra height to add that much needed push. Mine is now working fine.

I can't find that in any documentation.
The Lever unlocking error. Is that the message you are getting?
Can you tell me when it occurs. Does pressing any covers make it go away?
The transfer belt error I am sure you understand.
But if you can give me more detail with the lever message I may be able to replicate it and give you an answer.

"Lever Unlocking Error" Message

Probably a bad connection between the transfer belt contacts and those inside the machine - clean any dirt/toner off them and make sure they aren't bent out of position and try again.

Printer was off for two weeks and now error sc471

SC471 means: Belt tension unit cam error. Even though the belt tension unit tires to return to its home position several times, the home position sensor is not activated.

Possible Causes:

Defective transfer belt unit.

Defective transfer belt tension unit.

CN25 Pin 3 on the engine board is unable to send a signal.

Suggested fixes:

Replace the transfer belt unit.

Replace the engine control board.

Replace the transfer belt tension unit.

I would start by opening it up and inspecting the transfer belt and associated parts. Pull them out and re-seat them. Look for broken wires, stripped gears, gunk in the works. Clean it, then put it back together and test.

If you aren't up to it, it is probably time to call the repair man.

Xerox Phaser 6100 will not print

Yeah you need to replace that imaging and transfer units for it to print. That has a counter on it and once it comes up with that message it will not print anything.
NOW THE WARANING. Once you replace the unit. Everything you have sent is in the memory and will print out.
What you will want to do is once it starts printing, continue to cancel the jobs until they are all out of memory. Believe me, the jobs are there....

Transfer belt errors

I saw this posted somewhere on the internet and it worked for me.

Take out the transfer unit and look at the bottom. One side has visible wires. Open the side panel on that side. Follow the 3 wires to a C shaped sensor held in with a screw. Remove the sensor and blow canned air in the slots on the inside of the C. Put it all back together and hope for the best.
