I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A RECONDITIONED 1018C COPIER IT WONT PRINT MORE THAN ONE COPY AT A TIME, THE AUTO FEEDER DOSE NOT SEEM TO WORK AND IT KEEP SAYING FUNCTIONAL PROBLEM SC101 AND THE MACHINE CANNOT DETECT THE ORIGINAL SIZE.
I'm not familiar with your exact model but for small ricohs....Sc101 means that the standard white level was not detected. When you first turn on your machine the scanner scans a white plate (you will find this plate under the glass or frame near the park position of the scanner (facing down towards the scanner). The scanner will try to take a quick scan of this white plate so it knows the difference between white and black. You will get this error if anything is preventing the scanner from seeing this plate (exposure lamp not working, Blocked scanner, or more likely a dirty white plate. Remove the glass, get a mirror and try to find the plate and then clean it with windex. When you turn on machine the scanner will try to scan this white plate( make sure scanner is not getting hung up on anything. For original size your machine may use paper size sensors that look like small black boxes with two black eyes (under the glass looking up towards the original) make sure these eyes are clean.
Regarding your doc feeder I need more info ( does it attempt to work, etc) describe what it does when you try to use it.

Does this happen both when copying and printing? For printing solution, try another toner cartridge. If lines continue to appear when copying (primarily through the automatic feeder) then lift the auto feeder, and clean the glass -mainly the narrow piece on the left side.
If the lines only appear on copies from the auto feeder and printing is clean, then lift the auto feeder section and clean the scanner glass underneath. If printing and copying have similar 'streaky' results you probably have a bad toner cartridge - try a replacement. If that doesn't work you have a fuser problem - which is quite a costly repair based on the replacement cost of your unit
If the toner is low that would cause a problem. If the drum is damaged that would cause a problem too. If you have recently (past month) printed successfully than you might have issues with copy surface. Does the line come when using the auto feeder? Replace/ remove/reinstall the toner cartridge and clean the copy surface. Repost if this does not solve problem.
Are you making sure you are putting the origanls face up??? Also, are you getting any error codes at all? Will it do it only in the morning? Dose it happen with the copyboard glass at all? How about is it net worked? Or a Fax? Your hard drive may be crashing or is just about two. Dose it also pull one or more pages through..... Need more info..
SC101 indicates and exposure lamp problem. To try and correct, turn OFF the copier and then unplug from the wall. Wait 10 seconds and plug it back into the wall, then turn on the copier. Watch to see if the exposure lamp comes on - lift the document handler if you want. If the exposure lamp is working correctly, the scanner will briefly move to the right and the light will turn on then off after it moves to the left.
SC101 can be caused by a dirty WHITE LEADING EDGE STRIP. This is located under the left side plastic strip that holds down the exposure glass on the left side. Remove the screws, and flip over the glass holder. Clean the white strip with glass cleaner, and reassemble. If SC101 reappears, the scanner drive pulley screws are loose or broken off. A service technician is required for this repair.
