Printer Problem On Router

posted by Falcon52 on Jan 26, 2008

I have had this printer (HP Deskjet 3930) setup on my computer but now would like it on the router. I have pluged the printer into the USB port and done some if not all the setup that is needed. In the control panel under printer I can see it is on the router and in the router setting it says it is ready. In the Print Server Setup I have Device Name For Windows Network in the box for the Name I have "HP" Workgroup Name For Windows Network in the box for the Name I have the name of the workgroup on my computer. Shared Names Printer 2 (USB Port) in the box for name I have "LP2" I disabled the Parallel Port Printer 1 I tried to use the printer on the other computer while the printer was hooked up the the router and had the same problem of not able to print. The printer was also in the control panel under printers and ready. Now I have the printer back on the other computer and it prints fine. Just can't get it to work on the router.

Forget about the printer on the router being in one of my printers in the control panel. Need to do the whole setup to get it back. On the router of the Home Page it has the printer listed and ready for work. I have run the CD and no help, tried to setup a new printer with Windows XP and the wizard but when I select printer on a network and the next screen to select the first "Browes for a printer" not able to find one. "Connect to this printer (or browse foa a printer, select this option and click Next)" can't find the printer there and don't know what to put in the box. The third option "Connect to a printer on the internet or on a home or office network". Don't know what to put in for a URL.
