Re: broken plastic knob Durabrand toaster oven

I have the same problem with my Euro-Pro. It's approximately 2 years old. The knob (off a round, slotted shaft) in my case was the timer knob. Was using a butter knife, but cut two pieces of sheet metal, one rectangular (steel) and the other smaller and thinner (aluminum) cut one into a pointer, shimmed together in the slot. bent the pointer piece to point to zero.

Re: broken plastic knob Durabrand toaster oven

Are there multiple knobs that are the same size? If yes, then you could try pulling off one of the other knobs (gently) and putting it in the broken knob's place. You're probably just turning a metal piece under the knob, so you can switch the knobs back and forth.

How do I remove knob from Magimix 2-Slice Vision Toaster with out damaging it?

Do not try to just pull it off, you will likely damage difficult to repair parts.

On the underside remove 6 pozidrive screws 3 each end (one under the crumb tray)
Standing on its base - open the doors and remove 4x countersunk torx T10 screws, near the top, that screw from the inside into the end covers.
Now remove the opposite end to the knob, (in order to learn how it is held). Pull the bottom away from the base to the left, around 5 mm, and slide the whole end cover upwards, it unclips at the top. The other end is not so easy of course because of the knob. Release the cover, as before. It is possible - with the knob at the top, pull the bottom of the cover out 5mm and push hard to slide it upwards as before. The cover will release from its top mount. Then slide the cover all the way up, as far as the knob slot will allow. This will allow you see and have access to the back of the knob and the plastic clip that holds it in place. Stand the toaster on its base, with the end cover lifted up it is easy to put your hand inside the cover from the top and putting your thumb and forefinger around the bar you can grip the plastic hook and ease it downwards whilst you use your other hand to pull the knob and its firmly attached bar away. It will be necessary to wiggle the knob up and down whilst pulling it outwards. The bar surface is not flat, it has ridges that hold it in place quite well, even without the clip, hence the need to work it up and down. That's all there is to it! Hopefully you haven't broken the clip off, but if you have, don't worry you will still be able to use the toaster with little impact. The attached photo shows a close up of the knob and bar just separated from the mechanism. This should give an idea of what you are up against.
What a fantastically well made machine this is, a real pleasure to work on.

We have two of the same Dualit Mini Oven's and the same knob on both has broken. It is the Function Dial for Bake, Broil, Convection and Toasting. How do I go about getting these Knobs. The units we bought...

Well you could try to hold whoever you bought this from to their warrenty. You can buy the knobs on ebay and have them shipped to your house. To replace the knob just carefully pry the old knob off evenly on both sides and the push the new knob on.

Center element not working. Only toasts on the outsides. Ref 875742/4yb-5003. Is this repairable or under warranty?

I believe that the center heating element in your toaster is burnt out. If it is new take it back to where you bought it. If it is under warranty usually only 90 days from date of purchase you can send it in but remember that must companies require that you pay shipping and handling and this could be nearly the cost of a new toaster plus it will probably take 4 to 6 weeks. If your toaster was very expensive you might also try a local repair shop, but again if they need to order the part it could take 1 to 4 weeks for repair.

Wanting to buy a toaster

Did you try Wal-Mart... or a good hardware store? They were selling this kind of toaster just a few years ago because it was some kind of anniversary. I have a new one and one that's over 30 years old (and that's pretty good for a small appliance!)

Duraband 4 slice toaster manual model # TS-5221

if u need a manual for a toaster, then u r really in trouble...espcially for the amt of money u paid for it.
if u need instructions on how to use a goes:
A toaster is used to heat slices of bread, bagels, waffles, etc. to a hot, crispy consistency. Most toasters allow the user to set the toasting length to ensure the toasted bread comes out to temperature and crispiness to the user’s likes.
Toasters should be used on a flat, uncluttered surface near an electrical outlet but far from sinks, or running/standing water.
To toast bread in a toaster, follow these instructions:

1. Place slices of toast, one each, in the slots on the top of the toaster.

2. Find the toast setting (a knob or lever) and adjust to the desired wellness of the toast. (Generally, there is a scale printed near the knob or lever ranging from light to dark toast).

3. Push down the toasting lever (moving the slices of bread down into the toaster between the heating elements.

4. When the toast is finished, the slices will “pop” up automatically.

5. Remove the toast from the toaster.
If the bread should get stuck inside the toaster, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INSIDE THE TOASTER in attempt to dig it out. UNPLUG the toaster, turn it upside down and shake. If the toast does not fall out, use a plastic fork or knife to gently remove it from the toaster. Using metal utensils could damage the heating elements. NEVER stick anything in the toaster while it is plugged in.
*For further safety, it is recommended that the toaster be unplugged after each use.
I wish u luck and happy toasting.
