Question about Infinity CC-1 Center Speaker

Distorted and low volume voices - Mr French

Have a TSS-750 ss system with CC1 centre channel.

Recently when watching TV the voices are distorted and low volume (ie when watching a football game hear background but hard to hear announcers). When I shut off centre from recevier I get proper voices on other 2 front speakers.

Who know what teenagers did to it.

Any idea what is causing this?
Any quick fix or do I need to send to repair?
Will repair be more that simply buying a new one?

Hi, first u will have to determine if the center output is bad or the cntr speaker is bad, to do so do not disable the center, simply remove the speaker wires and check if there is noise, if not means speaker is bad, if still noisy then output is bad,u will then need a technician to get the job done.. letr me know..

My SONY Home Theater Model HT-6600DP unit was working fine and then about tow years after...present, my sub woofer is sounding distorted. Why is this happening? Please help me as I often watch my home...

Is it so even at lower volumes?

Are you sure it's the sub distorting and not the front or center speakers?

If you designate them incorrectly as Large (which tells the receiver they CAN effectively produce bass frequencies) they will probably distort in the presence of low frequencies.

Center Speaker sound just not right

If the optical cable was bad, the sound would be distorted period. The optical cable (whether coax or fiber) just simply carries the coded audio to the receiver which in turn decodes it. I have never heard of a signal just screwing up the center channel, and I've been at this better than 30 years. Not to say it's impossible, but very unlikely.

Did you try swapping speakers? Move the left one to the center and the center to the left. Does the center remain "distorted"? Does the left become "distorted"? If the center remains distorted, the receiver's center channel has something wrong with it. If the left is distorted, the speaker has a problem.

For the future. it is un-neceaasy to purchase expensive cables. In fact it could make things worse. The claim to fame of most expensive cable manufacturers is the gold plating on the connectors. Unless the bioth sides have gold plating (receiver, cable box) this actually creates a capacitive reactance between the different metal types. FYI-capacitive and inductive capacitances are the basis for designeing cross-overs, filters, etc. So basically, an undesired filtering effect is created. This applies to speaker cables, audio, video, etc....

12w3v2 Started making distorted bass noise at low volume

Connect each speaker coil one at a time to a square 9 volt battery and watch for the cone to move.

Also try hooking another speaker to your amp just to make sure the noise isn't in the amp.

You can use a 9 volt battery to test wire polarity also. Hook up the + wire of the speaker to the + terminal of the battery and the - speaker to the - battery terminal. If the speaker moved UP or OUT then the wiring is correct. If it moved IN or DOWN then the + and - wires are backwards on the speaker.

Also if you have two or more speakers hooked together test all the same way while they are hooked to each other. ALL of the speakers need to move in the same direction at the same time.

Clipping causes more speaker damage than anything. "Dirty Power" can happen in good quality amps too. The gain control is to match the voltage between the headunit and the amp. It is NOT a volume or boost knob. If you overdrive the first stage of the amp and then clip it damage will occur to the amp and speakers at some point.

Hope this helps.
