A friend gave me his old unit which shows that it's on the Rogers network (network selection mode is set to automatic) but when I put my Rogers SIM card from my old motorola v551 into the 8700c, the unit shows "invalid SIM card". The blackberry is branded as Cingular but it doesn't appear to have been on that network. Can I fix this myself or will I have to pay rogers to fix it? Thanks

You maybe able to request thru cingular if that is your provider to unlock the phone. If it shows cingular it was a cingular phone.
